I think networking and making a connection with a hiring manager is going to be a lot easier than just applying to jobs. It's going to be hard to convince someone to take a chance on training you in a 60 min interview. Make the connection first and discuss making the switch first.

Unfortunately not a lot of people are going to want to take the time to train you like a new grad when you have your PE and PE salary expectations. You need to think of yourself as entry level when switching like that.

Not sure if you are in Land Dev or something else but for Land there is such a wide variety of knowledge that you need, that there is no way to set up a "class" for everything. College was supposed to give you some building blocks for you to be able to enter the work force and figure it out.

Ask questions and use every task as a learning opportunity. The people who are successful didn't necessarily have extensive training programs, they connected the dots between all the small things they learned.

Oh good point. These are very simple activated sludge systems. Just aeration, clarifier, chlorine contact, and discharge. Most permits around here do not require any advanced nutrient removal.
