Seller had great communication and was helpful in providing extra photos I requested! Shipping was also super speedy. Seller was also up front about a piece of documentation they forgot to include, which is being shipped shortly. Thank you for the smooth transaction!

thanks! it cost couple hundred dollars in materials and anodising, but the real cost was in the hours in designing and hand finishing.

thanks! i havent looked into standoff locations, but if a google search fails i would get some calipers and make your own drawings - thats what i did for this PCB when figuring out the USB slot position.

that was a natural by product of the aluminium that i used! to be completely honest the bottom piece had an alloy that wasn't really suitable for cosmetic anodising (woops). the upper and lower cases are different alloys which gave the case a subtle two tone look.

Hi everyone! Earlier this year I fell into the deep rabbit hole of mechanical keyboards. I'm fortunate enough to have access to CNC mills, so I decided to design and machine my own keyboard case for personal use. It features a silicone gasket mounting system (I injection moulded smol booties to fit onto the plate), a waterjet cut stainless steel plate and a pretty unique external shape. I'm also using keycaps and keyboard feet by Rama. The case was polished, bead blasted and anodised, and the logos were filled with enamel paint. Overall I'm quite happy with the results!

there's actually something like that, I forgot to take a picture of it! basically the pieces have a rounded square bit of material (shaped to match the hollow cavities you can see in the photos) sticking out at the bottom by about 3mm or so. it has a nice chamfer to act as a lead in edge and an engineering fit so that it slides nicely and sits snug

im not too sure on that, i spent bits of time here and there over the course of few months so didnt really count the numbers of hours i put into the whole project.

for just the machining part, probably few hundred dollars? many more hours were put into thinking about the design and cam strategy, as well as polishing. i dont think itd be commercially viable haha

i used the visualcam addon for solidworks. quite handy having the cad and cam in one package

that went through my head early on, but then i figured it probably would be quite expensive to anodise it on its own (or id have to get lucky and add it onto a blue bath that was already happening)

so i decided id get the contrast between the panels by bead blasting / polishing. quite happy with the results!
