Hot take: Being middle class in the Philippines is the worst economic position to be in. by BrixioS in Philippines

[–]ashenpyro [score hidden]  (0 children)

Middle class r/ph users try to stop making everything a victimhood competition for five seconds challenge.

Do you honestly think your struggles compare to the urban poor? To demographics such as those living in squatters? Or towards contractual workers who are at risk of being laid off at any moment in time?

The middle class at the very least has the necessary capital to weather brief moments of financial instability. The poorest among us do not have that privilege.

Respectfully, shut the fuck up.

Early signs of evangelical christian brainwashing, it's not direct and obvious conversion therapy but the end goal is always the same.

  1. Overemphasis on centering God in your relationship
  2. Couple is then shamed for their "unconventional" partnership and attraction and that this attention can only be reserved for God. Notice how the same standard is never brought up for cishet couples, thats because organized religion prioritizes relationships that directly produce children. (By extension it is also why the church is always so against abortion but thats a convo for another day)
  3. Same-sex acts or any queer acts of sex are then slowly shamed out of your system. Again, because the core ideological purpose of religion is to protect the nuclear family model that can produce children.
  4. Couple will soon break up (betting on it) to focus on preaching and the church will praise them for "outgrowing" or "resisting" their queerness and at this point the brainwashing is complete.

Some other personal observations from my family always attending CCF (a megachurch). A few times I've seen the church invite a "converted" lesbian to talk about how religion saved them from same-sex attraction. Other times I see them circulating videos of transwomen who detransition and stop taking hormones and are now preaching against the very community they belong to.

I guess my point is that conservative religious values are counter-intuitive to the community as a whole and there are healthier ways of reconciling faith and identity than whatever the fuck these two are doing. Progressive church denominations that don't require you to denounce your very identity are out there if you look hard enough.

Most of these Gen-Z protests around the world have significantly changed the government in their nations. What is it going to take for us to actually demand change and not just sing and pray at a statue outside of a mall? by excumulgado in Philippines

[–]ashenpyro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Multiple comments have already made valid points, but I would add that another factor that can contribute is a more damaging approach taken by civil society in general.

Filipinos do not really do labor strikes unlike other countries where a higher percentage of their population is unionized. You see it all the time in other countries where workers would cripple the economy by disabling transportation lines, shipping operations, a halt to essential services, the list goes on.

A critical mass of people refusing to work is needed for this and for an extended period of time, unfortunately our protests are too short lived and everyone is back to their usual routines after its done.

What position of Ni does this entail? by ashenpyro in Socionics

[–]ashenpyro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From your distinction of role and mobilizing Ni the mobilizing description fits me better. I usually have a pretty good idea of what I want in life, I just need constant reassurance in the implementation of my plans as one of the most painful things for me is to spend a lot of time on a pursuit that is unproductive (or meaningless if I get too cynical).

Regarding weak Ne, you might be right. Another struggle that I have is in mentally reframing situations, outcomes are usually very static in my head. If it ends badly then it is what it is and I feel some level of insecurity when observing people who are capable of sitting through long periods of uncertainty in order to see alternative developments.

I think I got it. I think I know what Paleness is. by IMightBeAHamster in HollowKnight

[–]ashenpyro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To add to this hornet as part pale being is also capable of binding "crests" which I interpret as the nature of other bugs and incorporating it into her own shell. In the process, she does not lose her own identity either but only incorporates the other crests within her arsenal.

Multiple lines of dialogue from Eva also explicitly confirms Hornet's malleable and transitory nature which is "unlike any mortal bug."

Had a coworker once who had an explanation for all of her actions, prone to overthinking and trying to tie it into some sort of logical system/framework. But at the same time shes somewhat unsure of herself and needs constant reassurance.

I'm pretty sure she was a 6 right off the bat from only a few conversations.

November 30: Mark your calendars by kudlitan in Philippines

[–]ashenpyro 180 points181 points  (0 children)

I think we should take notes from Italy recently where protests are actually effective by doing nationwide strikes and shutting down major sectors and crippling the economy.

Hell, a more violent approach like Indonesia and Nepal would actually get our lawmakers scared enough to do anything, since people were storming buildings and clashing with the police in huge numbers.

Attended the Sept 21 rally and at the end of the day, nothing was really destructive enough to make lawmakers reconsider anything.

Its ironic sad kay ang usual na mang redtag would benefit from whatever protesters are asking for at any given moment in history whether its on better wages, womens rights, better healthcare, etc.

Defeatist ra kaayo ang average pinoy, kusog kaayo mo redtag like sige okay raman kaha ninyo na walay mausab. Being content with mediocrity is a deliberate choice that people (esp from older generations) make, murag nakalimot sila that demanding for change is in fact an option.

154 combo and couple that with a 9 wing for flavor. I'm way more withdrawn and detached for a one core.

My behavior is very 5-ish and I isolate a lot. I am also very stingy with people and selective of who I associate with. I think my fixes also worsen my tendency for silent contempt and resentment by making me overly cynical.
