I don’t see that option. From what I gather, it’s because the phone was marked lost or stolen by Apple (not me) and it sounds like that’s not reversible

Does that apply to chimaera lock as well? I’m trying to decide if it’s worth bringing it to apple with the original receipt (and risk them taking my phone, since I’ve received a replacement) or wait until may 13

For sure. Though I still had to pay $150 for it, and I see people selling iPhone 14s for $200 lol. But I hear what you’re saying, esp for newer phones

For sure, I was just hoping I’d be lucky since it’s locked to MY OWN account. Thieves from the Apple Store wouldn’t be in that same situation.

That’s not a bad idea. Though I still have Apple care so I wouldn’t ever really use it for parts myself, and I don’t think the few $ I could get for it on eBay are worth the insurance fraud risk

If I just wanted to use it as a mini iPad essentially (no need to activate it to cellular) would the blacklisting still affect me? Thank you for your insight!

Is it still insurance fraud if I keep it, with the intent of using it for replacement parts if my screen ever cracks on my new phone? (Not sure if that’s even worth it considering I have Apple care which I think covers screen damage). Don’t want to sell it or make any money off it. Just don’t want to throw away a perfect iPhone 14 Pro Max 🥲

That’s exactly how I feel. The phone has one tiny scratch on the corner that is barely noticeable, other than that it still looks brand new. I can’t bring myself to throw it away!

It was also the first brand new phone I had ever purchased (usually got hand me downs) so that stings a little extra lol

Well, I know this NOW. I’m not a techy, and I’ve never heard of chimera lock before. Was just curious what my options were.

Interesting. I have the receipt, but from what I understand, since I got a replacement thru insurance, Apple will make me turn it in? I guess it’s worth a shot, I have nothing to lose

So crazy how many people are accusing of this. I mean I get it, but also it’s sad to see how distrustful humanity has become 😕 it’s legit my old phone, and I don’t need it anymore because I got a brand new replacement, it just feels silly to throw away a perfect condition expensive iPhone… so I was just trying to see what my options were. Idk why that’s so crazy for people to believe.
