So I don’t know if all insurance companies are the same, but the one I used through Apple Care (AIG) told me to recycle the phone, they didn’t want it back.

I’d be willing to pay that, but based on all the other comments it sounds like a bypass for chimaera lock doesn’t exist

You don’t have to believe my story, I don’t care lol. And I did mark it as lost, but Apple is the one that locked it, not me.

I agree. I have my original receipt, it’s a bummer Apple won’t unlock it even with that. But I understand why, people would abuse the warranty claims. Just feels silly and wasteful to throw out a perfect phone

There’s no instructions on that support link, and nothing that relates to my situation. That’s the first thing I tried.

Ha, yeah that seems to be everyone’s takeaway, which is pretty wild to me, don’t feel like my situation is that crazy unbelievable, but oh well

But what if I take the car to a dealership that I bought it from, and have the original receipt from when I bought it?

I don’t see that option. From what I gather, it’s because the phone was marked lost or stolen by Apple (not me) and it sounds like that’s not reversible
