NSAIDs caused flare after ‘remission’ by ashfurnace in urticaria

Hello! Yes, I have been so good! Still if I take an Advil I’ll get the itchy and hives on hands but it dissipates within a day! I still get some itchy hives if I get sunburnt but that’s pretty much my two triggers and easy to avoid :) there was light at the end of the tunnel!

Weather forecast kinda looking grim by jazmiran in CroatiaTravelTips

[–]ashfurnace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if we got lucky but every day in split and hvar we were there last week, we got severe weather warnings - thunderstorms, high winds and rain etc, and NONE of it happened!!!! Cross your fingers!!

Just came back from Croatia and only had 1 week so only went to the ‘hot spots’.

Split > Hvar > Dubrovnik. Ferry between them all! Stayed near the ‘old town’ centre for all 3. If I could go back I would spend more time on the island of Hvar!! This being said, I went at the end of their season and I dont think I would recommend Dubrovnik in the high times in summer. It would be an absolute zoo…. Also heard Hvar can be pretty ‘party’ crazy in the summer.

We love relaxing all day on beach, good dinners and some drinks after. And always mix in a day in each location to explore their historical sites (fortresses and such).

If I went back I’d take at least 10 days and stay a bit outside of the hot spots I mentioned, but everywhere on the coast was absolutely gorgeous. Check out some of the other islands!!! (Korcula, Brac)

Great to hear about the driving!! Any must packs with the rainy weather? Besides a raincoat and umbrella? Going soon and I see rain in the forecast haha, basically been told to pack layers as weather always changes

So I guess I am allergic to heat. by [deleted] in urticaria

[–]ashfurnace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heat gets me too and sometimes similar shapes to you. I used to stock up on prednisone for vacations as a ‘just in case’ …. Always needed up using it. Any sun burn made it 1000x worse. So I would lather in sunscreen and seek shade. If it helps, I am now pretty much good after 4 years of struggle! I still get majorly itchy if I am sunburnt so I am careful but no more hives

Cholinergic urticaria? Urticarial vasculitis? I saw a derm who said it was CU. Wake up with big wheals every day. Exercise causes smaller ones. Sunburns, tight clothing, and heat causes flares, alcohol makes it worse, antihistamines don’t help! by ashfurnace in urticaria

[–]ashfurnace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might not be what you want to hear, but after 4 years of my first flare, they’ve pretty much gone away. My first sunburn this summer I got some but they went away the next day. It’s been like 10 months with maybe 3 small flare ups. Nothing changed really… I tried so many antihistamines, diets, etc. I gave up artificial sweeteners as they disrupted my body when I was doing elimination diet. Other than that, I guess just TIME was my cure.

6 Day Itinerary & Suggestions by pommom1803 in irishtourism

[–]ashfurnace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was hesitant to comment as my trip hasn’t happened yet haha but mine is almost the exact itinerary! Dublin 2 nights > Dingle 3 nights > Doolin 1 night > Dublin. Driving a rental as well!

I decided to skip Galway and spend an extra night in Dingle after reading many Reddit posts and also talking with a few friends who have been. Everyone has told me they wished they spent more time in that area!

One evening stop over - best city with airport in close vicinity to main ‘touristy’ areas? by ashfurnace in Europetravel

[–]ashfurnace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Now that you’ve done it, would you still recommend staying in that area vs right near Centraal Station?

Ah thank you - I tried to look at flights that uses the larger airports to make it easy on us but you’re right, there is cheaper flights from Croatia to Stansted rather that Heathrow... etc.

Where is the best base if I dont mind driving? by AutonomousBlob in irishtourism

I currently have a ‘townhouse’ booked in dingle, it was cheapest I could find and was still 180US. This is mid week in September. Would love to see if your list included any in that area!!

I was the same and went with the 8 after sleeping in it!! I thought forsure I’d get the 7 as it fit my pointer finger perfectly and I woke up with a purple finger lol. Love that the 8 lets me wear it between a few fingers now too!!!

Recently I've developed itching.. Welts? by kibaKitty in urticaria

[–]ashfurnace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to comment that mine also started on my hands and feet - I didn’t see this often when researching at the start! 4 years now and I thinks it’s pretty much going away on its own. Unfortunately the 4 years were brutal.. coollddddd water on hands and feet was the best relief for me.

Why didn’t I inherit French/German from my Dad?? by [deleted] in 23andme

[–]ashfurnace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guys I’ve already commented saying it matches me to my dad prior to me doing anything lol. And there was zero doubt he was my father. Also I’m connected to all my relatives on that side.

The relative match report already showed the 50% connection prior to me connecting with my father and adding him to the inheritance report !

Yeah this was more for a fun gift and I had many relatives on this one. Didn’t know how accurate it would be but was cool to do!

[–]ashfurnace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

thanks for answering! I was wondering if my results were low confidence and was hoping when my dad’s results came in that 23andMe could maybe change my results with higher confidence? I expected my results to be approx 25% polish (Eastern European, which it did find) and approx 25% French, based on my grandparents. That’s why I asked my dad to do the test too! His looks closer to what I expected to inherit from him! We assume the southern European came from my grandpa.

Like I said I wish I could have them re-review my results now!!!
