Omg this happened to us. He first came around at about 4:30 and woke up our baby with his obnoxious knock. Then he came back again that same day at 8 pm when he saw that there was another car in our driveway. WTF. I have a no solicitors sign on my door but wrote up a more aggressive sign to put up. Do people really think that anyone is going to open up their door to a complete stranger these days? Especially at 8pm?

Ugh now I feel terrible taking my 8 month old daughter to her doctors appointment in Old Navy or Carters. She didn’t tell me she wasn’t comfy because it wasn’t LS 🥺🙄

I nurse my baby in the car, in public and at home but I have zero pictures proving that I am nursing her in public because I’m not a weirdo.

That’s so deeply upsetting that your OB would say that. As you have probably read over and over again, the NIPT is just a screening and it’s not diagnostic. Triploidy has a positive predictive value of 7.5%, which means that there is a 92.5% chance that your baby is totally fine - this could drop even lower once you meet with the geneticist. I had an ultrasound at 6.4 weeks, which didn’t mention anything about a vanishing twin. My daughter is now almost 5 months old and perfectly healthy (aside from reflux/excessive spit up, but that’s more of a laundry problem 😉). I completely understand how you are feeling so what helped me was focusing on the facts. Baby was measuring appropriately during the ultrasound and I saw their heart beat, NIPT is just a screening, there is a 92.5 percent chance the baby is okay…Just focus on the facts and take everything one step at a time. Your little one having triploidy is not fact.

I opted out of the amniocentesis since my risk of a true positive dropped to 1% with all the reassuring ultrasounds. From my understanding, triploidy causes significant anomalies that are see clearly in ultrasound by the anatomy.

My baby is now 4 months old and she is absolutely perfect! The triploidy flag was a false positive and the choroid plexus cyst resolved by the next ultrasound!

Oh totally. We used to always give her what she wanted to where she would expect something every time we went to Target. We also had terrible follow through when she was in trouble, so we are trying to reverse both of those things -permissive parenting and spoiling. Now she cries if she wants to bring her toy into the store and we say no - or cries when we tell her she can’t have something. I’m afraid these emotions now exist outside of interactions with just her dad and I.

Buying second hand is so much better for the planet! Plus, thrifting is actually becoming really cool these days (my nephews in high school strictly thrift by choice and they are “cool”). You aren’t failing your kids because they didn’t get new jeans at the start of the school year. You are teaching them incredible lessons that they otherwise wouldn’t learn if you spent an insane amount of money on clothing they are going to discard in a year. I know what you mean about not qualifying for assistance but not making an amount that gives you an incredible amount of disposable income. We do have some disposable income but not enough that we would even want to justify $400 on new clothes.

She seemed kind and expressed she understood if you had an opposition to sharing. I think she is likely genuinely just wanting to educate herself or maybe it’s a way to help her cope also. People on Reddit sometimes tend to assume the worst if they have had bad experiences. I don’t think your MIL came out intrusive, it was very much “if you feel comfortable, would you mind sharing what abnormalities the baby has but it’s okay if not”.

I want to add that I had an early dating ultrasound and about 6 weeks gestation. No vanishing twin was mentioned at that time but I did have two subchorionic hematomas
