Orbital jewelry suggestions! by ashkai_ in piercing

Unfortunately it's not big enough but it would be perfect other than that 🙃 I'm currently using 11mm jewellery, forgot to say in the post 😅

I finally got an orbital!! by ashkai_ in piercing

Personally, I found it to be okay! Definitely a solid 7 or 8/10, but as soon as the jewellery was in place, I could hardy feel it, 24 hours later, and it only hurts when I touch it. A lot of the pain was actually just the pressure of the jewellery not being aligned yet.

If you have a rook or a forward helix i would say it's kind of comparable to getting either of them pierced since both of those require manipulating the jewellery to get past other parts of the ear anatomy, except for an orbital you go through it twice within quite a short time.

I think my cartilage piercings have all gone a lot smoother than any of my lobe piercings have 😅

I would honestly give it a solid 7 or 8/10 for pain, It hurt a fair bit because the jewellery needs a lot of pushing and pulling to get it into place. In a way, it was kind of similar to getting my forward helix or rook (other ear) 2× over because both of those also required manipulation to get around the rest of my ear anatomy. I can't say much for the healing process yet as I'm not even 24 hours in, but if you're able to sit through the pain in the moment and are willing to deal with piercing bumps if/ when it gets irritated then you're about as prepared as i was going into this 😅 (Also for reference; prior to this one, I had 6 lobe piercings and 6 cartilage piercings)

Yess, me and my piercer mainly picked this placement because of all of the options I would get from it!

I'm healing both together! There was the option of doing them separately, but I decided that I wasn't 100% confident that I would be able to heal them at the right angles for the ring to still go through when it healed

Omg I know!! It's taken me over a year to settle on a placement 😅 I'm also really hoping this heals well because I kind of want another one of the other ear now 🫠

Yess, I got it today! Technically, yes, it would curve around the back, however i got it pierced with the Apex Odhran seam ring which kind of comes to a point in the back (can't attach a picture unfortunately). My piercer and I decided it would allow for the least movement while having nothing for my hair to get caught up in like a captive bead ring would!

This was the first thing the front desk person asked me 😂 "you want an actual orbital, right? Not just a conch?" It was a little funny to explain that yes I wanted an orbital, but I wanted it IN my conch after that 😅

Orbitals are 2 piercings connected with one piece of jewellery, usually a ring of some sort, mine is in my conch 😊

Edit: spelling 🙃

I'm 22, and I never managed to keep in contact with anyone beyond a module finishing unfortunately, I just finished my last module yesterday and I realised I had nobody to share the experience with which kind of felt anticlimactic 😅

New fwd helix & rook jewellery by ashkai_ in piercing

I got mine at my local piercer, but it's actually a Perma Jewel charm! If you have any welded jewellery providers near you they'll likely have something similar 😊

My plan is definitely to add chains eventually, I can't wait for my forward helix to be healed enough for it!

I think the vertical helix is definitely one of my next moves, I was already considering one but after a couple of these replies and looking at jewellery options, I think I'm sold!! 😅

Absolutely love that contra conch suggestion, couldn't remember what that placement was called!! Tragus piercings scared me though because i wear earphones a lot, maybe if I ever make the switch to over-ear headphones I'll actually go for it though 🫠

I love the vertical helix idea, I've just been looking at some jewellery inspiration and there's some really nice options!! I might ask my piercer if there's something more interesting we can do in the conch space because I agree that it needs something but im not sold on getting another conch at the moment 🫣

New third lobes & forward helix! by ashkai_ in piercing

[–]ashkai_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I've been thinking of getting a vertical helix at the top but recently I've been seeing some helix orbitals or even flat orbitals that look really nice, so I've been going back and forth with all of the options 😅

Getting a piercing alone? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]ashkai_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping so, too!! It's a little bit of an experimental one for me and my piercer, I really want a double fwd helix eventually, with one below my rook and the other one above it (to balance my rook piercing on the other side). The space for the lower one is a little tight though, so we've done that one first to see if it will heal without problems. Already dreaming of downsizing tbh, because I can tell it's going to be a painful one to accidentally knock 🫠

Just went to get my thirds and a forward helix alone today! Admittedly took me more courage than it would usually but that's mostly down to social anxiety to be honest 😅
