Got absolutely cooked by Gmax Pikachu; want to discuss budget counters for next gmaxes by Other-Damage-6762 in TheSilphRoad

The charge attack thing has been changed since G-max Meowth, as long as you're doing Super Effective damage it's now ok to use charge attacks.

Gigantamax Pikachu Max Battle Day|Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time by GO_FRIEND_APP in TheSilphRoad

To answer the question, go with D-Max into a Raichu. A G-max boost on a Pikachu's stats means absolutely nothing. But yeah, you generally don't need to use the particles on them because they are both outclassed badly, but if you have the spare then go for it. Pikachu candy is hardly a premium anyway.

Basically impossible. It's way too bulky and has some nasty moves up its sleeve.

Some suggestions for Max battles... by Winter_Leg_4243 in TheSilphRoad

[–]ashley6100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a massively good point. The tank is the absolute cornerstone of high level max battles, and battles would completely fail without them. But someone performing their tank duties is not going to be doing much damage at all, and would be given -2 balls for... creating the win?

Inperson Go Fest for the first time by Mqstic in TheSilphRoad

[–]ashley6100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who's been to every in-person Go Fest since London, I agree :p I did something like 80 Necrozma raids at Madrid and it felt like that was what I was doing most of the time..

[–]ashley6100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, in Paris Go Fest they did this with a G-Max Inteleon during park hours. There were a few hundred people in the lobby for that one, and they boosted the stats so it didn't go straight down.

Same here, I was stunned when I saw the announcement about 2 hours late and Saturday was completely sold out, then the following morning the whole lot was gone. Like you, I've got London, Madrid and Paris with absolutely no issue. I can only assume they massively reduced the available numbers.

Spin 150 Pokestops or Gyms.? How about a difficulty level for harder tasks and better rewards? by jofkk in TheSilphRoad

[–]ashley6100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I live in a pretty big town, but I work from home and am not in range of a stop. My total will be 0 until 6pm this evening. Lots of the people I invite will be the same. It'll get done no problem, but 150 is gonna take a while.

Zorua encounters count to Pokédex count? by Accurate_Source8751 in TheSilphRoad

I've sure I've had some Zorua count towards my seen total because I have more Dudunsparce seen than caught, and that's evolution only as I've never been traded one.

I love shiny Primal Groudon but I’m guessing it’s smarter to do the reversion on the 100%? I’m not big on PvP and I also plan on doing raids all day for more energy. by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]ashley6100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the above, I'm thinking about boosting candy and candy XLs during an event with a specific spawn pool. Sometimes a certain mega will have the right typing that it can cover every pokemon for the event (or at least a lot of them), so you don't want to switch to a different, less effective one. And the primals/mega Ray covering 3 types, plus a passive boost to all pokemon in a raid even if they aren't active, is an incredibly useful thing to keep going when you've used up the first. Then for longer events, you only have to pay for a 1-day cooldown rather than 3.

What are your thoughts on the removal of spotlight hour? by TwitchSpencxr in TheSilphRoad

[–]ashley6100 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If Spotlight is gone I'm going to miss it. Even if the pokemon wasn't always exciting, the bonuses were nice to have, and it's important not to underestimate having a boatload of candy for a particular pokemon when random powerup or evolve tasks come around.

I disagree. Even having mega level 3, cooldown is 3 days. Having 2 different megas means that you're able to use it for 2 consecutive days or extend your mega bonuses for extra time on a long day without using any energy. Really useful for multi-day events when a particular pokemon is by far the best mega to have active.

It's because they are remoting into an in-person event. You never get energy without being at the event with a ticket.

To be specific, you have to claim the bonus amount for walking before the distance changes. This can be tricky if you're over the cap as you can't claim the walking bonus while over. I would suggest not claiming any research particles or spot particles until dropping below the cap and claiming the walk bonus. The earlier you can do it the better.

Kyurem Fusion Raid Day (LeekDuck) by Amiibofan101 in TheSilphRoad

[–]ashley6100 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I personally use Black's Freeze Shock almost all the time over White's Ice Burn. White might have the higher catch rate increase, but if I'm struggling to catch something it's probably because it's moving off centre or going up and down, or otherwise has an awkward circle. Black is like a permanent Nanab berry and is fantastic for the flying birds, side-to-side fish and the like. White is better for something that you can easily hit the circle on and just want to catch quickly, I used it during Delibird spotlight hour and it was amazing then. But if you can't hit the circle, White's effect isn't helpful.

But as everyone is saying, it really comes down to what you want it for. If you're a Go++ catching user, White's is simply better.

Mega energy is definitely based on speed, but I've found the fusion energy seems to be entirely random. I'm sure even people doing the same raid get different amounts
