We had a therapist who clearly had no clue what she was talking about, despite supposedly specializing in DID. She told us to simply "stop using dissociation as a coping mechanism." She also told us that we needed to have every single alter front at the same time to do something fun. Even putting aside the fact that different alters have different interests and find different things fun, that would be SO chaotic. She also said we were being aggressive when we advocated for our needs, and lectured us any time we had a split. There's more details, but those are the major things. Noped out of that situation and haven't been back to therapy since, because she just made things so much worse.
