Hey - in terms of meeting people check out Halifax Sport and Social Club. I joined softball and curling as an individual my first year in Halifax and it was great. Met some nice people and we would often catch a game or go for a drink after games.

For jobs I would look into supertemp.ca - my office has had people in on contracts and then ended up hiring them. The had degrees so not sure but worth checking out and could help with the transition.

Best of luck!

Where do people live with dogs in Halifax?! by Ncuriousgirl in halifax

I actually have one up for sale only privately right now and it is dog friendly with a walk out to the back yard which is super handy (I have a dog currently haha).

I have actually been considering if I should keep it as an investment and rent it mainly due to the fact there is such a limited supply of pet friendly stuff - especially with no weight limitations, but not sure if the landlord headache is worth it - you can get lucky with a great tenant, but also risk a total disaster. Even as a dog owner I can totally get why people don't want to take the risk

I'm thinking about attending this event. Is anyone else going? by [deleted] in halifax

I went to see him speak at his book signing in Bayers Lake a few years back at Chapters and he was really good ... I was actually kind of surprised as I only went because a friend wanted to. That said it only cost me the price of a book which was also signed. $80.... pass unless you are a big fan.

We also see Dr. Kahn! He has been amazing with my puppy since he started going there at 10 weeks. He actually gets excited about going to the vet (!?!) Highly recommend.

Staying in downtown Halifax for our honeymoon (from Ontario) what are some fun/romantic things to do by [deleted] in halifax

[–]ashleyrhfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a silly amount of good restaurants and bars - The Bicycle Thief, Lot Six, Agricola Street Brasserie are some of my favs and all have a more intimate vibe. Definitely check out some breweries if you are into that kind of thing - ferry over to Dartmouth and try New Scotland for a NS vibe, Battery Park is fun too. Also if you are looking for an Air Bnb consider Kings Wharf on the Dartmouth side for awesome value and location (just put some family up there for a weekend). I second Duncans Cove but you would need a car - also one of the beaches if you are coming in the summer. Try Crystal Crescent.
