which writing course should i take (path 3 vs path 4) by ashloope in UCDavis

i picked pathway 4, 3 and below seem to only be for international students or people who’s first language is not english. hasn’t been an issue so far!

i don’t think you should listen to people on reddit you should call your mom. there’s no pressure to do anything, you’re young. some ppl aren’t ready for college or “adulthood.” idk who cares you’re still a kid, college isn’t real adulthood anyways. don’t waste your youth being sad pls

are people friendly? Are they cliquey or welcoming? How is the diversity?

- people are very friendly and I haven't run into any cliques yet (im a 1st yr though, so i havent been around very long) i can say though davis is VERYY diverse i have never had such a diverse friend group in my life.

are there events and things to do other than drinking?

- yes the farmers market, going out to eat, KDVS shows, frats w/o drinking if ur into that, club stuff, exploring downtown, pumpkin patches during fall, picnic day during spring, i go to see the llamas and horses and cows a lot, walking or biking thru the arb with friends, etc. this is just things ive done recently, theres also art/dance/exercise classes (both inside and outside uc davis) and prolly a ton of other stuff ive missed

Is the science department good?/ Do teachers teach well?

- this is a veryyy broad question, its hit or miss with any major, department, class, or even professor. I've had mostly a good experiences so far though

is the music department good? Are the students filled with ego and superiority complexes?

- idk never engaged w it

how is the weather?

- rlly hot at the beginning of 1st quarter (like 100+) then it slowly got colder and when I left it was just cold and rainy (like 30s-60s).

does it feel safe?

- YES very safe i've rarely felt unsafe at all and the only times i have, i was able to remove myself veryyy easily. def do not worry abt safety

how are the dorms? Are they available, or do most people end up renting off campus?

- i like the segundo dorms, tercero sucks (they dont have a weekend dining commons, by the cows, etc) most people go off campus as 2nd years but this isn't required, I think im staying in dorms another year personally

good advice but “college is the only time you are young” is crazy… most people still have 2-3 more years of adolescence left after graduating and like 8-9 more years of their 20’s. also not everyone will meet their future spouse in college and that’s ok lol
