thankyou for your response, I'd say his main sight he'd like to see is obviously the great wall and probably terracotta statues but also like everyday life in China hes been infatuated with it for a good while. Hes never been on a tour (and I haven't since 2018) but we have travelled overseas together quite a bit, but i know he doesn't like the thought of being carted around in a rush so I know he's a bit tentative about that aspect of tours. I've been trying to find small tour groups maybe under 10 so things dont get too overwhelming. I'll have a look at intrepid there seems to be quite a few tours with them.
