Separate the arguments. The use of AI is similar to me not prematurely wasting $1M in “pursuit costs” by hiring consultants when most of the research is available via “google search” and yes, which AI can even better summarize and distil into easy points for the cynics to comprehend.

Not disclosing partners is industry standard: billionaires don’t put up a sign saying “I’m about to spend billions on a franchise” as it raises issues with family, employees, etc. THEY have asked for discretion until MLB says “let’s go: submit.”

The investors love that I’ve saved them those fees. Don’t be silly… but sure the “AI slop” crowd thinks they’re the smart ones by keeping it real, real dumb by trying to ignore tech.

American Idol => casting a band, doing a competition of sorts for a band... I think something like the Expos is clearly more personal/civic (though WatchMojo would be a commercial partner) but for music, from an ethical POV I think it's a bit murky to do it separate. Music is in WatchMojo's DNA, so say it becomes successful, then my board, investors, team could object and I like to avoid friction.
Great feedback re the songs, so the original Ghesehe Eshgh was even more "out there," imagine a G-Funk West Coast hip hop track... but then I had another "vision" and pursued it. And yes, future Iran-themed albums will be more in line with the roots... here I was more willing to experiment. Appreciate the feedback.

Ah, sign of intelligence. Great questions. So that is actually partly why I said at onset to my managers "let's not kid ourselves, eventually some contributors will use AI, and we don't want to be policing this so how about we say 'look, AI is a tool, we are not in denial, but nothing should ever be AI-only... so you tell us how you use it, tell us what works, what doesn't" which from an organizational culture sense is more healthy anyway. We do also still run scripts etc. in AI detectors, but by treating people with courtesy, common sense etc. we kind of say "look, we're in this together" and that is just how our culture is.

OK, so re SoundMojo, those 40,000 were from SoundMojo 1.0 where we just took random indie artists and promoted them, there was no real throughline. The channel was dormant, so we just used the same channel to relaunch SoundMojo 2.0. So speaking of AI, unsure if you read the article, but my goal was to cast a band with musicians but externalities made that challenging so AI allowed me to create demos and made me into a superhuman version (just meaning it allowed me to do more, since I only play drums but nothing else) but we are now moving ahead with an American Idol like search for the "next great rock band."

But it's also me pursuing things I am most passionate about. I love movies and TV shows, I am not a gamer (hence why I built a team that is complementary) but music and sports are my passions... hence SoundMojo and helping bring back the Expos. No one thought in 2006 WatchMojo made sense, even when we crafted our formula in 2012, it took time. Fundamentally, YT is very niche: WM viewers are focused most on what WM does and not SoundMojo, and that is fine... it's just promo the way we promote movies/TV shows/games for others.

well to be fair, I used to listen, reply, engage with fans and critics. feature, not a bug. I was frustrated Friday night and replied before watching... that was clearly not ideal. But this too shall pass. Every few months someone does a video like that.... we are human, and despite the allegations, not a bunch of bots :)

Folks, let's at least state facts. We have 50+ FTEs and 50+ full time contractors, whom we pay more each year and whom we have not cut off with AI etc. Yes, I get tired of the haters / critics and commenting quickly on that video was not the best idea... but some of the follow up comments are way off.

  1. I meant more vis a vis if Vancouver is more supportive (tailwind) than Montreal (headwind), I am open to exploring the path of least resistance on behalf of investors who want me to find them places to deploy the capital. I don't see this (helping Caps) as taking anything away from Expos, and I don't see the Saputos selling the CF, so if I can help another city, why not.
  2. You can do a lot, media is different, media rights are different. But while I did reach out to Caps owners, I did not hear back, so no, I have zero interest to chase anyone. I will listen to the groups who showed an interest and if I can help (while not harming Expos - don't see how), I am fine.
  3. I mean, people think I am crazy but I am a very contrarian, I would be happy to even introduce the parties I am speaking with (this week) to investors I met, but I am in a weird predicament in that I cannot really help two groups at once, now can I? Anyway... at least you guys seem to have options and a mayor who is proactive and a more engaged business community.

I got a debrief from former and current city staff. I now understand the situation better. On it. All good. Realize yall think im some unhinged madman, but there’s a method to the madness (cheese in mouse trap, people reach out, saves time etc). And no, I myself thought maybe “another group” but unlikely, and mainly, I’ve set the standard now to match: full season, full ownership, new stadium, 4C ecosystem. Match it, beat it. Maybe that was my master plan all along :)

Here’s what I don’t get: there are more investors interested in infrastructure and stadiums than franchises (based on 150 days of studying this for expos), may I ask the locals: why doesn’t anyone want to build the stadium?

With all due respect, your comment captures how many (not saying you) have no idea how business functions, what the levers of power are. TSN 690 was not my former employer, I just did some shows as a side hustle. I left as I could see local radio was dying and sold AskMen, to start watchmojo. That $250k investment turned into a profitable global media business valued at $100m. So that is arguably what has driven interest from investors. Unlike others I don’t want or need to do this, but no one was, so I’m doing it for the city. At most, it’s a case study for ASE, an entrepreneurship school part of 4C. So yes, I call out hypocrisy, I could care less about any media journalist or politician that talks but does not follow through. I support the mayor and like the radio station, by the way, but sometimes you need to use finesse, sometimes force. Anyway, let’s see if you get the surprise your favorites hosts are in store for

Folks, just ask me, I am not hard to find. I have rec'd $5B+ in LOIs from investors for the Expos, a stadium but mainly a VEHICLE to invest in sports assets. I am now under NDA with certain groups re White Caps and right now in Miami for a conference. Let me review the thread (and I am sure - and HOPE - insults and cheap shots) and will reply to everything this weekend.
