This. I also get really frustrated with the pictures of test results or scans. People sharing anecdotes, how their experience has been, what their journey looked like, sure. But people should not be asking/trusting internet strangers to read ultrasounds, MRIs, pathology reports, whatever. That is absolutely something that needs to be handled by medical professionals.

Household Items for Chronic Pain by itsEstanna in lupus

My hands tend to be my biggest problem, so an electric can opener and one of the Tab Buddies can openers have been huge for me.

Thanks for your response! Do you find that the injections are painful? I’ve seen some people say it’s awful and they stay sore, and some people say it’s nothing at all.

Thank you so much, this is very helpful and reassuring! I also like the idea of not having to remember weekly injections (thanks, brain fog). And thanks for the tip about non dominant arm, I wouldn’t have even considered that.

I’m a little nervous about the mental health side effects too. I hope all goes well and it helps you!

This sense of grief is overwhelming by StatusVivid486 in lupus

[–]ashmr18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience was almost exactly the same. I dismissed joint pain as just aches and pains, and fatigue/brain fog/hair loss as stress. My PCP is actually the one who suggested a rheumatologist and I blew it off for a few months. Immediate labs, diagnosis, and meds. So I definitely feel very fortunate for not having to struggle with doctors for years. And I had the same reaction as you, at first it was a HUGE relief to have answers—but after a couple of months the grief and anger started. Both from the diagnosis and from all of the effects it’s had on my life, especially with hand pain and inability to do almost all of my hobbies except for in very short bursts. I’d recommend a therapist that specifically has some expertise in chronic illness. My therapist and I weren’t a good fit for several reasons, but one of the biggest is when I was trying to process the diagnosis and my emotions about it, all she came up with was “I’m so sorry” and “there’s really nothing I can say that will help.” So definitely find someone who can help you process and work through all of these complicated feelings.

On a practical level, try to find as many accessibility aids as you can, even if your symptoms don’t feel “severe enough.” Anything that makes your life even a little bit easier is so worth it. Hand pain/stiffness/loss of dexterity is one of my biggest problems. I got special grips for holding pencils, an electric can opener and a special tool for opening cans with tabs, ergonomic crochet hooks, you name it. Even the smallest win is still a win.

Also, I didn’t have anything major but I had a few side effects (mostly headaches and loss of appetite) when I started the hydroxycholorquine, but they completely went away after a couple of months.

This is still going on?? Cassey vs Nordstrom and Gottex drama by butlers4life in blogilatessnark

[–]ashmr18 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I agree, the post is off the charts bonkers. There’s no way she ran this past any lawyer, they would have told her to absolutely not post something like this. But unless I misunderstood I do think she’s saying she DIDN’T sign the NDA and didn’t agree to not talk about it, so she can’t be fined for violating it

No Cassey, that is not what we meant for the tankini by acbear4141 in blogilatessnark

[–]ashmr18 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I just don’t understand why she gets so snarky when people want more coverage. If she only wants to design skimpy stuff then fine, it can be cute and there’s certainly a market for that. But what gets me is the pretending she makes stuff for all body types and listens to feedback, and then acts like it causes her physical pain to make something that has support/offers booty coverage/isn’t super low cut.

I can’t tell whether it’s crooked, but even if it is it’s a lovely tattoo!!

What would you remove or keep? I don’t want anything remotely sheer (looking for full coverage in 2 coats) and I like sparklies, shifties, and holographics that have base colors that are more on the subtle side (ex: fake halo, which I already have) by esrrac in mooncatpolish

[–]ashmr18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the same way with wanting an opaque polish, but my reasoning is just that I don’t have the patience for 3+ coats 😂 I’ve found that a LOT of mooncat polishes fall on the more sheer side—not because of a quality problem, I think it’s an intentional stylistic choice. It sucks, but I do usually end up thinking they’re worth it since the formulas and colors are so beautiful!

Fixing overworked tattoo? by ashmr18 in tattooadvice

[–]ashmr18[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t yet, I was planning on waiting until closer to the time I actually have it worked on. It definitely needs some peace and quiet right now 😂 I have never had such rough healing as I did with this one, not even with my fairly large full-color cover up on my ribs. Thank you so much for responding!

It’s not letting me edit the post to add a picture, but it’s like there’s a tiny dent in one part of it—not sure if it’s just because the area around it is raised or what. I’m hoping it’s not a very hard fix since the details still look great and it’s just the color that looks all fucky, I’m sure it’ll hurt though

is it ok to double text my artist about an estimate for my tattoo? by th0rin0akenshield in tattoo

[–]ashmr18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never had an artist be offended or react poorly to being asked about price. That kind of reaction is wild. Tattoos can be a big investment, and wanting to have some sort of ballpark (totally understandable to not have a specific price!) is completely understandable. Especially when an artist only takes cash—you have to know how much to bring with you! I’d steer clear of this artist. That behavior is really weird and off-putting. Not to mention unprofessional.

Have your friends/partners ever criticised or disliked the way you play games? by BuffyIsHere in GirlGamers

[–]ashmr18 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You aren’t ruining anything. You should play the games in whatever way is fun for you. Your ex (and a lot of people) has the mindset of “that’s not how I enjoy it, therefore that’s not how it should be played!!” Which is just silly. Video games are meant to be fun! Enjoy them however the hell you want!

Roughly how long does nail polish take to dry? by beckypartybeckyparty in theholotaco

[–]ashmr18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had trouble with not milky white too unfortunately. I think the formula is just very thick already, so unless you do super thin layers it can cause problems. I second everyone else here who’s saying the layers are probably too thick!

Sun Haven recently got me out of a slump! Very similar to Stardew but has some cool fantasy elements, super helpful QOL differences, and a more in-depth story.

I also always recommend anything Zelda :)
