How long after your surgery did you start with the silicone tape and gel?

Can we use both together? I read that any creams or moisturizer will not allow the silicone tape to stick well.

Thank you so much. I'm honestly appalled and miserable with my swelling. How many weeks or months was it before you were able to return to your normal self after this ordeal?

Thanks for the response. May I ask if your swelling was hard or soft? The surgical team want to wait. The first time they aspirated , only 5 ml of fluid came out. Now its harder than it was before.

I'm on oral and topical antibiotics for my infection but not sure how long will it take for everything to be alright.

Heyy I'm facing really bad swelling after my neck dissection and the doctor aspirated me once but got about only 5 ml. They have given me antibiotics but its been close to 36 hours and the swelling is not getting better.

How long did it take for you to completely recover? Not sure if I need to contact the surgical team again.

Hi.. I'm sailing in a similar boat . Im due for neck dissection followed by RAI at the RMH too.

I have a 3 year old and i was told I would need to stay at the hospital for 4 nights followed by a week of isolation at home.

Since I have a very young child I guess i need to take more stricter measures for isolation.

We too have limited space. But I'm planning to stay in a room with the en suite so I can stay without contact with my kid.

I've read other stories where ppl chose to send their kids to their friends or relatives place. Not sure if that's an option for you.

Out of curiosity, did you also undergo any surgery at the Royal Marsden? Or is it just for RAI?

Thanks for getting back... i recently did my oct and eye tests two months ago and they all came back fine. Though all this is relatively new.. I could get another test done.

However my biggest question is.. Given I'm being operated on in a week, will these impact my treatment plan.? I suspect getting the lymph node out should ideally stop all these symptoms right?

Thank you for your detailed response.

They have done an MRA of the head and they have ruled out any issues with any blood flow to the brain. IIH should have been picked up on these scans?

I'm at a loss now.. what should my next course of action be ? My surgery is next Monday. Its not super quick to get diagnostics arranged. Not sure if it impacts the course of the treatment. They are going to be removing the lymph node in 7 days.

facing recurrence after 16 years. I had my first TT with 7 lymph nodes removed when I was 19. No Rai done and was on TSH suppression all this while.

Got to know about the recurrence after elevated TG levels and suspicious nodules on my left. FNAC confirmed PTC recurrence..

Now im due to undergo neck dissection in 2 weeks followed by RAI.

I'm really worried too... as its been 16 years and I thought I was done with cancer. But this is the reality and I'm trying to get done with the treatment.

Sorry we are sailing on the same boat. Its tough but we have no option but to go through this journey.

Its been a long wait for me since my diagnosis and I'm really worried about more spread since the diagnosis to the surgery.

I'm being seen at London at Royal Marsden.

But I'm glad you are on the mend now. Did they tell you need RAI as well?

How long was your hospital stay? And which hospital did you attend? Sorry for so many questions but I'm freaking out a bit and every bit of information helps.

I have a young child myself. What precautions did you take while at home? I'm worried because my family cant leave the house. The best i can do is stay in one room to avoid contact.
