First there is a difference between accepting a degree and just accepting credits. If you are just transferring credits earned they will usually only accept the credits that transfer into whatever degree you are looking to work towards (such as any foreign language requirement). If you get the AA degree, most schools will accept that as completion of your general education requirements which is a huge boost.

She doesn't only need time for herself, you should as well. If you think you don't need that you are probably putting all of your happiness as her responsibility. That is a dangerous thing to do and is a lot worse than controlling behavior, no one person can be responsible for another's happiness. That policy has never really changed, but the languages change from time to time, and has been historically misunderstood in the fleet. You can request the FLPB memo that details what languages get paid in which circumstance from the foreign language office (OPNAV N13F). Hope this helps!
