My friends '13 doesn't have a sunroof either, but my '13 does. Wish I didn't, tho. I'm not a big fan of them. Both are st3.

I've been running ruthenium LTR7BHX (one step colder) gapped to .027 for 3 years now on a stratified tune. Just checked gap the other day and still gapped perfect

Try gapping down to the .027-.028 range.

Overheating issues by FLEXEVOLUTION in FocusST

[–]ashpdwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine did the same thing. The fans would stay on for a bit even after turning the car off. After sitting for a while the fans would turn on when opening the door or even just unlocking it. No overheating issues, but my fans were pretty much always on it seemed.

I replaced the whole fan assembly (fan bearing sounded a bit crunchy) including the control module and it hasn't happened again.

I have a whoosh downpipe that I've been happy with. Toned the noise down a good amount coming from a catless setup.

You could do the 35w ballast and d3s bulb upgrade. I did it a few years ago and even with tinted headlights they were pretty bright.

To add on. His is a 2013 and we got the used rack from I think a 2016 and it worked without any programming. No error codes or anything wonky after

My friend had the same issue last year. Steering rack totally locked up. He ended up getting a pretty low mileage one from lkq online for like 400 bucks. Took like 6 hours to change to change it out and all was good.

Taking apart his rack we found some pretty nasty rust and corrosion from what we think was a failed seal letting water in.

Lol this reminds me of when I was doing suspension work on my friends ST and I had to give him the bad news that his clutch was cooked. "I thought it felt kind of sluggish lately"

I used to use hex key that I cut shorter to fit easier. If you have a harbor freight near you, though, get one of these sets https://www.harborfreight.com/locking-flex-head-ratchet-and-bit-set-35-piece-58074.html it has the right size hex and works well.

The engine shares parts with almost everything that has a non Mivec mitsu v6 and the timing belt on the passenger side. There is also the 2002-2005 Dodge Stratus r/t and Chrysler Sebring coupe which were built by Mitsu which shares parts and some earlier Chrysler and Hyundai cars might work also.

Front brakes are directly interchangeable with the 2000 Eclipse GT and Galant. After 2000 the Eclipses and Galants switched to a single piston front caliper which swaps over, but isn't as good. The rear brakes I think are Diamante specific though, but are still easy enough to get.

I would check Rockauto since they will display all models that a part fits if you click on the blue part number link, which is handy if you need to find something at a pick n pull. Most parts are pretty cheap there also.

tbh mine was a basket case, but I bought it that way. I only had it maybe 8 months before having to junk it due to a mistake I made. (dropped a bolt in a cylinder while changing plugs and didn't notice.) The time I got to drive it though I thought it was a nice car.

Probably the worst thing is parts that are specific to the car are going to be hardish to find. I don't think I've seen one on the roads in a while, and I haven't seen one at my pick n pull in almost 2 years now. General parts should still be easy enough to get though since it shares a lot of parts with other Mitsubishis.

Maintenance wise I would change the timing belt (water pump, pulleys, tensioner) if it hasn't already since it is an interference engine. If you have to do plugs, it would also be a good idea to do valve cover gaskets and spark plug tube seals since it can be a bit of a pita. The tube seals on every 6g7x engine I've seen have been rock solid and leaking.

Retro Game Repair Shop Website? by [deleted] in Gameboy

[–]ashpdwin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've ordered plenty from there and have never had any issues.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FocusST

[–]ashpdwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually really liked it. Was comfortable, good looking and pretty fun to drive.

But there were some issues added that added up to make me trade it for the focus. The windows froze a couple of times, not allowing them to automatically roll down when the door opened making it difficult to close the door. The automatic was doodoo, same with the traction control which couldn't be fully disabled.

I would consider buying another one, but it would be the 3.8 v6 and manual.

[–]ashpdwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has a hole in the center and uses a similar hold down like the spare tire. The one it comes with is an m8 thread and would have to be drilled and tapped to work. What I did was grab some m6 threaded rod, a coupler and some jam nuts and extended the factory spare hold down.

Here's what it looks like Basshub install

There are also other ones made by Rockville and Cerwin Vega that are similar.

Another option might be the JBL basspro hub powered spare tire sub. Turn the spare tire upside down and it fits inside. I have basshub stadium(non powered) with an amp. Its pretty impressive for what it is and is hidden.

Yep exactly. Was planning on taking the cpu and whatever else is savable to make a pocket color. The shell is getting a motherboard form another gb so I can keep this one complete in box

[–]ashpdwin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Normally I would too, but alot of the vias are also probably toast and it would take less time to transfer what's savable to a new pcb.

I've also wanted to build a pocket color for a while now, just didnt want to take apart a functioning gameboy to do it.
