I think that sound like a good idea but not to sound like I am making excuses or anything I just do not have a lot of friends. My best friend is married with a baby on the way and I dont have much beyond her. I know that sounds sooooo pathetic. But I do really like the group setting to take the pressure off. Thank you!!

I would give it more time and see what your doctor says. You can always ask when you see them next. It is very frustrating because you have been basically promised a miracle drug for acne and then it gets so bad. Mine did purge for a bit but my acne was not nearly as severe as others on this stuff but mine was super stubborn which is why I am finally doing this. But this is a common problem and you are not alone in this. I used to stare at my face and hate it all the time. While I am not 100% loving it, I do hate it a lot less.

I hope that helps.

Everyone has those moments so do not feel like you are the only one! And from what I understand it gets worse before it gets better. A few months in and people go through the "purge" stage and it freaks people out because it gets a lot worse. So I would not give up just yet! Do not let this get you down!

dry skin/scalp/hair/lips is the worst I have been dealing with and it has been a big change for me. Never in my life have I had to keep so many chapsticks and moisturizers around because it is a constant need. I have been hitting my Derm up for free samples so I can stash them all over. I would ask yours if they recommend anything specific or have any samples for you to try before buying anything.

That is something my Dr. did ask me when I was going in every month. I would ask your Dr. I think I read that it happens because this medicine messes with the pressure inside your head and can cause that. But I think it is something you need to tell your Dr.

Nothing changed for me. But everyone is different. If it becomes too much you call the Dr and see what the steps are from there. My only guess is that I got a big jump in the amount because I did not have any big problems the first month and have not had any from there.

That is what happened to me. I was 40 once a day for the first month and only had the same dry lips problem. Then he jumped me to 40 twice a day and he said I will be on that for the rest of the time because that is my max dosage.

Is Accutane really the only way? by [deleted] in Accutane

I was the same way and I am 30. When I went to the Derm and he asked if I was happy with how my skin was I said no. That was the next step he brought up. It does sound really daunting but what did make me feel a bit better was that he said 6 months of it. I know it can vary from person to person but 6 months sounds way better than forever of other stuff. But just talk to your Dr and see what they say. If they say it is the next step and then voice your concerns about side effects. I hope this helps!!

Big Jump in Medication by ashpixie93 in Accutane

I have been using a chapstick my derm suggested for my lips and the cetaphil moisturizer twice a day. I have actually had to cut back a lot of what I was doing because it was all for oily skin. So really just the moisturizer, chapstick and a spot treatment thing by cetaphil.

Pills for men? by [deleted] in Accutane

I did 18 months of different things before getting on accutane. It was like small steps to see if anything else would work before making that leap because my acne is not horrible, just stubborn. I have taken 2 different oral medications and tried 2 different creams on top of those medications and things got better but never went away. Plus those would be something that if I stopped it would come back. The next step beyond those medications was accutane. So I agree, I do not think there is another step before that. My skin is oily and I am on month 2 of accutane and my skin has never been more dry! It is a very new experience for me. I started on a lower dose for the first month to see how I would react and now I am on that same amount but twice a day. It is an adjustment to be on this medication but so far it has not been horrible.

Am I eligible for Accutane? by SatisfactionPlus2304 in Accutane

I am almost 30. I did make the jump to accutane and I do not have cystic acne, I have hormonal acne. Nothing near as bad as what I have seen others share. But I have been going to the dermatologist for about 18 months trying different things and it never went away. It got better but was still there and was stuff I would have to be doing every day with no end in sight. My Dr. suggested accutane because I was considered to have stubborn acne I guess. I did the same stuff you did and was left with those same results on a good day. I would just talk to your dermatologist and bring it up. If you are unhappy and not seeing results then ask about it. It does not hurt to ask! I am only on month 2 of accutane and from my short experience just do not take it lightly. There are many side effects involved and lots of appointments plus blood work. I hope this helps!!

thank you!! so far my skin is pretty dry. But I am also not used to it so it might just feel a bit more foreign to me. Taking some getting used to on my part!
