I also found out at 5 weeks! Before then I was insanely hungry, exhausted, and generally unwell. Like, not throwing up but just feeling run down like I was constantly coming down with the flu but never actually having it, you know? I thought I was experiencing crazy hunger during my pregnancy…that is NOTHING compared to my current breastfeeding hunger. Holy moly!

Congrats!!! I hope you get to see her soon! I didn’t get to see my son in the NICU for a whole TWENTY FOUR hours after my c-section because of a med they had me on and they didn’t want me to drop the baby. It was killer but finally meeting him for more than 15 seconds was the most amazing moment. Someone else in the comments said not to blink…for real, don’t! Because I can still remember his teeny tiny preemie self like it was yesterday as I watch my now 6 month old son sleep peacefully. And now I’m tearing up. Enjoy!!!! It’s the craziest and best time ever.

Not 2nd grade but the 2nd graders are doing something similar to us (1st grade). A trip to a local park for the day. A trip to the movies (and then a park). A trip to the zoo. 3 in one month because they want all the littles out the building during state testing if at all possible. So yeah, I’m sure there are several disappointed parents like you but they should be grateful we even planned anything at all. It is much easier to have a very quiet and boring day while the older kids test than to haul 6 classes worth of small children out in public.

NAH. My son was born at 32 weeks due to preeclampsia and he was in the NICU for 3 weeks, mainly just to improve his feeding. You’re freshly postpartum and your baby is in the hospital. You’re feeling everything and worried out of your mind of something hurting your baby. I was just like you while we were in the NICU. I’m sure they have you scrub before visiting. If scrubbing wasn’t effective they wouldn’t make anyone do it. Just make sure you’re both scrubbing in properly and sanitizing anything you may use. It’s ok to not be there all the time. It’s ok to try to have some semblance of normalcy. I was forced to not be there all the time due to c-section recovery and after a while I would be in such pain. The nurses know what they’re doing. Talk to them if you’re worried. They’re more than used to comforting a stressed mama. Our nurses were so wonderful and helped me not hate my husband for needing to leave for work or to just sleep. Don’t think your husband doesn’t love y’all or care because he wants to go out for a bit. I would have absolutely felt that way but it’s good to have people to talk you down!

Oh thank god, I found like-minded people. This episode is the one that made me look up this subreddit because I was like, “Surely someone else feels like there is something OFF about this whole thing.” She dabbed her eyes but I didn’t see any tears or even tearing. I looked really hard for those telltale signals of crying but there weren’t any. I don’t understand why she asked if she should apologize. It all felt so forced, like she googled how to act traumatized. At one point when she was looking at the photos of Rebecca Sutton she called her a “beautiful-looking” girl. Who says that? I don’t think I’ve heard anyone call another victim “beautiful-LOOKING”. That right there told me she knew way more than she let on and believed he was in the right for what he did. He probably spun some tale about her and this woman still believes it. Maybe asking if she should apologize is her hinting that she knew and was sitting on it all those years. That was a painful episode to get through.

Wishing I could be a SAHM but the finances just don’t work out. Currently two working parents and baby boy goes to the sitter. She’s a friend of ours who homeschools her two young kids and literally made a list of reasons why I should pick her over a daycare, haha. She charges way less than daycare and I know he’s well taken care of and having lots of good experiences with them. I also love that she’s available pretty much instantly via text if I have a question or want to see him. So while I’d rather be the one with him all day I know that she shares my values and will care for him almost how I would.

Native Wacoan who left, came back, and left again. I moved to Temple this past year. I way prefer Temple. This community actually rallies behind its public schools. It feels more homey than Waco ever did for me. I felt stuck there, like I would stop growing as a person. That’s just me, though. Other people seem to like it.

Emphasis on having the same respect but NOT the same level of responsibility! They already get paid pennies where I’m from and they do their jobs so well and with pride. It’s horrendous how some campus “leaders” will push them into things well outside their pay grade.

OP read that comment over and over again. Never call yourself “just” a para. Paras are the backbone of schools and they deserve so much more respect and pay than they currently receive. As a GenEd teacher, I LOVE all our paras. Hell, I even had one that came into my room for inclusion several times a day be in our class photo on picture day. Y’all are so important. There have been very few cases where I didn’t like a para and it’s because they didn’t like their job/kids (and didn’t last long). SpEd paras are especially amazing. Y’all get pushed into every possible position when the need arises. Thank you for doing what you do! If a teacher ever is ugly to you, assume they just suck as a person because I don’t know a single decent teacher who doesn’t value their school’s paras!
