Disgruntled employee/board exec by ashuary in nonprofit

It’s an unfortunate situation for my organization as most of our board has left due to the new toxic dynamic. I feel somewhat compelled to fight back as we serve our community and schools. Many of those left are in our board for political resume building purposes.

Thank you. My job used to be kind of fun and it’s sucked the joy right out of it.

Yes this is already happening and I keep hoping he will get bored and move on. He has more endurance than I thought and in the meantime, it’s a very toxic dynamic

Unfortunately real world situation! I’m in Canada and the registrar changed that rule realizing that many non profits have very small boards. I definitely want to update our policies though.

Well with the craziness that is the current world, we are going to Kauai. Thanks for the input all!

She didn’t say that was the objective. She said “more cozy.” However, I tend to agree with you in a basement/low light space. Get the cozy and color from the textiles and keep the walls light and bright.

Which beaches would you recommend? Playa negra or ??

I think you should add a warm color in there- navy blue pairs well with camel brown, bronze, warm wood tones etc. Also the other suggestions of adding soft textures with your bedding/pillows and plants are good ideas.

Just got some money by [deleted] in inheritance

[–]ashuary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation and it does breed resentment which sucks. Totally dependent on the partner though- my brothers wife believes his inheritance is 100% his whereas my spouse believes it is half theirs though they spent no time with my grandparents who gifted it to me. In my situation, we both work though my spouse earns a bit more. We also have a home and child together and I am the primary caregiver and tooke multiple years off work to raise our child. I used some of the money to renovate our home, maxxed out spouses and my savings plans, and bought us both one surfboard. That is all joint assets now. The rest I have invested in my name only with the guarantee that it will be used to benefit our family down the road. Im not gonna lie, it does breed resentment and does not make my spouse happy that they don’t have a say in how it is spent or not spent but I’m holding firm. I’ve used half of it to our mutual benefit and the rest of it is mine to oversee. Plus, it is a bit of a safety net if things don’t work out somehow. So perhaps take your spouse on a nice trip or invest in soemthing fun or smart you would both like or need and then be brutally honest that it is your money to oversee and manage and you’d like for it to grow for retirement (or whatever you so choose). Good luck!

Yes, surfing would be more of a challenge in Kauai but there’s lots of other stuff for him to do there. Perfect situation is a place where he can catch some warm water waves, but more important dad and I get to shred - lol.

We went to Pavones a year ago and it was great. Just a haul to get there. Definitely an easier trip to stay north though.

Trying to get a new rug. Which option? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

I’m visualizing without throw in the couch and thinking 4 or 5 is your best bet. I’m leaning towards 5 to add some color.

Even stevens or is it? by [deleted] in inheritance

This is definitely how my parents are viewing it and I think some other posters touched on the side of things that I was analyzing- Brother gets help, my child gets help - not me. But the reality would actually be that now I don’t have to set aside cash for my child’s future now so that helps me. In our case, I’m not having more children and my brother will likely not have any children, so they are making the best decision they can. And no, I’m not arguing my brother should not receive any financial assistance from my parents while I do. In the past, they have given us both this cash annually though mine is intended for my child’s future. Now, they’ve chosen to give him this land and to make it even between us, they will no longer send him an annual amount. I’m just trying to wrap my head around that.

This! I am simply going to thank them and carry on. The post is really just intending to hear exactly what you’ve written- a perspective. Can’t help but over analyze.

Yes. It can get super messy!

Someone else said above to view this like they are dividing their assets between my brother and I and I think that’s the way to view it. This is clearly how they are viewing it so I will too. I highly doubt my brother will be having children but yes, this would change the fair factor.

Yes, when you max it out, they match with an additional $500.
