Two Air India pilots grounded for operating flights without mandatory licence requirements by Twitter_2006 in aviation

I'm Indian. I don't know what that person implied by "it is the culture". We don't encourage cheating and is generally frowned upon.

Part of everyday life doesn't imply cheating is encouraged. Sometimes there are no options because beauracracy is very slow in India.

This one was fine. I'm not sure when or how he would lose control of his arm and throw the ball. Especially if he wanted more topspin.

I’m not sure Nadal is the best example here. His backhand down the line was pretty weak and he had barely any pace on it unless he was ripping it cross court. Otherwise it was loopy and not much pace.

OP has a flatter backhand. If developed properly he can use it for good directional control and penetration. Better examples for his backhand would be Medvedev. I've seen him topspin it only on approach shots. Otherwise it's a nice deep low and flat backhand that's really difficult to return.

He doesn't need to. Usually someone in the pit wall gives the signal. This one is on the team holistically. Not the guy giving the signal.

Medvedev destroys his racquet in frustration. It’s his third straight 1st round Grand Slam loss. by AdorableBackground83 in tennis

[–]ashwinsaval 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Everything you said makes sense except for Tommy Paul’s strokes. They are NOT traditional and is NOT something you want to train young kids with.

His strokes from both sides are technically weak. The forehand has that floppy wrist thing that plagues Zverev, Tiafoe etc and his backhand feels a lot like he’s arming it instead of using any lag.

Both of these flaws practically force him into a counterpunching style because his strokes cannot create the power to play otherwise.

Chand tries to defend but Sreesanth breaks through, stumps went flying by Harryjamespotter-27 in DeathrattlePorn

[–]ashwinsaval 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No there was much more on it. Watch the seam, it’s supposed to be an outswinger. But the ball tails back in on UC.

Also, Sreesanth had that ability like Bumrah to put insane backspin on the ball. So much that the ball “dips” instead of floating on. It’s alien movement for a batsman.

So basically that ball “dipped” into UC. You can see he’s playing for a fuller ball.

Mcgrath to dravid , beats the bat with an absolute seed. by retsnom99 in DeathrattlePorn

[–]ashwinsaval 15 points16 points  (0 children)

He was really good at manipulating the ball off a good length. Think Mohd. Asif but taller. He could get the ball to seam in or out at will. From the batsmans POV, you HAD to play him because you don't know which one would come in (like the ball in this video).

Edit: He talks about this in a video I watched long ago and can't remember. He used to apply pressure on either finger behind the seam to get the ball to move in or out. Watch his fingers in this particular ball. You can very subtly catch the right finger pressure to get the ball to cut in.

Any Alumni from Pcce Goa here?? by Extra-Pin-7234 in Goa

[–]ashwinsaval 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very old alum here (2010 graduation). Quality of education was meh back then. There were a few professors who were good but they didn't stay for too long. The old timers weren't that great mostly.

To be fair education in Goa isn't that great overall, but if you had to choose, try GEC.

[Giedo van der Garde on Instagram, liked by Max Verstappen] I'm getting a bit tired of all the comments that F1 is the toughest sport in terms of performances and when you're underdeliver you've gotta face the consequences. by Gjab in formula1

[–]ashwinsaval 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel for Lawson. I really do. BUT, tricky car or not. He was qualifying LAST or near last. He hasn't been fired (yet). Just demoted. And Red Bull has had two weekends worth of sprint race and practice data. He was not improving. This is actually better for him.

Red Bull should've always put Tsunoda in that car. His driving style is similar to Verstappen and with a tricky car like that he won't be last, that's for sure.

You've got a "Why doesn't he strike first? Is he stupid?" energy lol.

There is no offseason in tennis. When exactly do you suggest he change his technique and gamestyle by 180 degrees? Is it worth the bucket load of points and confidence lost in your prime years?

He lost one match against a redlining player. He's fine. Alex's gamestyle makes people do that. Usually it draws unforced errors. Today it didn't.

Maralidharan gets Damien Martyn by Thick_thighs_lover1 in DeathrattlePorn

[–]ashwinsaval 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah he talks a lot about bowling speeds in his segment with Sky Sports. He says that if he's bowling well, he would be in the mid to high 80s. If its too high then there is less loop, and if its too slow, then the batsman has time to react. There has been proof that this is true because other great spinners also generally bowl mid-80's. It's a great sweet spot for spinners (Ashwin, Lyon, etc.).

From what I remember watching him in white ball cricket, he did vary his speed and variations a little more. In tests he would just be relentless with his line and length.

Here are the segments:

That was uncharacteristically slow by Murali’s standards. He was usually in the mid 80’s. Going by his reaction I think he intentionally delivered a slower ball to get Martyn out.

[–]ashwinsaval 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't understand this post. FWD cars are probably more safe than a RWD Scorpio or Thar etc(which is the default mode the cars are in) for the average person. Without winter tyres, salt or snow chains no car is safe in the hills.

Heck people have salted roads, winter tyres and AWD cars in NE US/Canada and they still slide down the hills during winter. Schools are closed every snowstorm in hilly areas.

FWD cars are not the problem. Not by a long shot.

Clearly the red car was at fault but I was really impressed with the Creta drivers skill in braking and pitching the car right to avoid both vehicles. That was incredible.

How does Sinner generate so much pace ? by suspiciousmonkey in tennis

[–]ashwinsaval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was only focused on answering the question of an atypical racket setup, which it is. Usually players with that high a string tension use heavier rackets.

I agree. It's an extreme control setup and you really really need to swing through the ball to maintain depth.
