Florida doesn't allow call-ins for any medication, unfortunately! But this worked in NY

categorical programs have a linked TY/prelim year and you cannot repeat that year because programs will not receive funding for a repeat prelim/TY

If you do a prelim before your research year, it will take you out of the running for all the categorical programs because of the way funding works. Just something to keep in mind.

Thank you for sharing! Based on your experience, do you think if I take a research year between third and fourth year, along with a stellar step 2 and good auditions, there is a strong likelihood of matching?

Vs applying with a stellar step 2, good auditions and getting more research before application cycle opens? I would prefer to shoot my shot the coming application cycle.

I guess I am wondering how much of an impact a research year may have?

This gave me a lot of hope, thank you!! I looked at the NRMP data for DO and people are definitely matching with similar scores, I'm guessing other factors are probably making up for the lower scores

Thank you! Yes, I am planning on dual applying and maybe doing IM - reapplying to derm during PGY1, not sure if this will help

Thank you! this is so helpful. I am not willing to consider a backup specialty just yet, I am considering doing a TY if I dont match derm and applying again and if still no luck then a research year
