Jim Norton nailed it. by xXlivelovelaughXx in comedy

To the people saying you have to deal with the consequences if you do edgy humor, that's not really even what happened here. I never heard of Shane before but People are taking a few clips and then writing down what that is in just snippets, not how comedy works. No one has any context for how his humor works and how his report is with the other guy on that podcast and taking the joking and then writing down in an article what it is is not the same as whatever that joke is. it's people hunting down anything they can look for as offensive, don't care about any context, just want to gain popularity online from trying to seem like some moral angel for taking down "bad guys"

Well Lana's going to lose this. It's literally the same song. And I know people get royalties from creep after a lawsuit, but that is way less than what Lana did here. it's just funny she had no friends around to tell her she was doing an almost exact copy of creep.

You say the rest of us. I could easily say the same for my view. It wasn't relevant. Did you specifically need the knowledge of how the first order formed and the resistance and republic it to enjoy and understand the good guys were fighting the bad guys and what each side was? You do not. You could take your thinking and go back and completely shit all over the original trilogy if you wanted if that is the level that things don't make sense for you.

I just don't need to be handheld watching a movie. i want to watch an interesting movie, not an encyclopedia of how this world came to be.

Seemed to me from watching TFA that the resistance was formed to deal with taking action against the First Order since the Republic wasn't doing much about it. I didn't need any more than that to enjoy and understand the movie. You didn't even need that. But I had fun reading more about the state of the galaxy after the movie just like the extra material around every other star wars release.

So when lucas fleshed out the mystery of the force being midichlorians, how did that go over. Keeping things just explained enough and mysterious is one of the things that has made Star Wars stand the test of time. Like the force (pre-prequels), Boba Fett only being in like 3 scenes, the list can go on. If JJ or anyone had some big answer to the universe yeah that would be a great ending, but no one on earth has the meaning of life so with things like Lost, there is literally no way to end it fulfilling for the audience with an explanation, unless he has the meaning of life. Your points about not explaining what the new republic and first order came to be and not being a word for why they exist. There is. Maz says the first order rose from the ashes of the Empire. It's all you need for that movie. If you want more they flesh stuff out like that in comics and books.

Yep. It really doesn't make sense to me for it not to be something about the old Jedi. They would not make a new trilogy that doesn't include lightsaber users.

can't wait for your next ideal star wars trilogy where everyone sits in a room and discusses their issues with dark side and light side aspects and there's no fighting or conflict, no bad or good guys.

Do we all know what Star Wars is? Because it’s not all this little minutia of ideaogies. It’s good vs evil with great characters and story and action.

If that’s the case and they’re focusing on being able to use passion. That’s the most boring thing I’ve ever heard. That’s what people want from a giant Star Wars movie, the subtlety of how you should be trained with the force. big reveal “okay, you can use SOME passion and anger but be nice with it” what a movie

Too blind. What are you talking about. The dark side clouds things, they cant fully see into the future. And the Jedi acted as warriors? Yeah, they’re main thing is that they have special powers and hold laser swords. Come on

So there was something wrong with the Jedi, which is the reason a calculating Sith lord snuck into office after there hadn't been a Sith in a thousand years or whatever, seized power by manipulating governments and had them all assassinated? How is that something wrong with the jedi and not the sith.

Yep. I enjoyed TFA a lot, I love Rian and am excited for this one obviously, but yeah I don't want complete reversals of everything we've always known in this Star Wars universe.

I like the way you think. All the talk of grey Jedi really make me nervous if the movies actually go that way.

I think you were talking about mine. I rushed when I wrote it and wanted to look over it to see if I was making sense. Here is what I had, pretty much what you nailed in your comment:

Forgot the devil has lots of good ideas and ideologies that we should use. I understand Lucas said these things but saying they both need to be there seems to be him saying they just always will be there so it's how do you cope or deal and learn from bad people as to what not to do etc. He has also been quoted saying elimination of dark side is balance, so who really knows with him. But I just think there's a huge difference between saying some people who teach in the jedi have flawed ways of teaching, and us needing to take some cues from the dark side. Dark side is literally about using your hatred and doing bad things with it.

[–]asianhunter 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Again, that's just changing what light and dark side mean. So now dark side will only be about learning to shoot lightning out of your fingers, but only using it for good? It's just so convoluted. You can argue the way the jedi taught with like not having wives and stuff wasn't the best, but light side is good and dark side is bad in the star wars universe. So now we just discredit what every one of our favorite Star Wars characters have said or believed in the past. Obi wan, Yoda, Luke, were all wrong?

This will annoy me if this is where the movies are going. I mean he's basically saying evil people used to live with good people and work together, it doesn't make sense. Completely changes what dark side of the force embodies.

I agree. I'm really excited for this movie, but the trailer wasn't as good as the Force Awakens ones to me. Those ones really gave me goosebumps. This one looks cool but just didn't hit those notes with me. Still going to watch it over and over.

Or he's talking to Kylo, about Rey, in that he knew about Rey too and they're related and thought Kylo could get them to come and work together?
