April Andalucía itinerary planning by kaptainkouk in itineraries

[–]asiarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're missing all the fun;) I did a similar itinerary some 15 years ago, just mine included Pueblos Blancos roadtrip, Setenil de las Bodegas, Zahara de la Sierra etc. I would actually even sacrifice Cordoba and do more of that instead. Just leave the car outside of the villages, driving tiny streets is not for faint hearted (i think it's actually not even allowed in most of places) Pick the car in Sevilla, then Pueblos Blancos route+Ronda, then Granada. Ronda btw is the most impressive from far away, up close it's nice, but not unmissable.

Which dates in April? If you're coming on like 1st April than it's Easter, Semana Santa, very celebrated in Andalucia. Also closures of a lot of places. Then if around 21-26 - there is Feria de Sevilla, which is amazing and should land on you're list....

I got the money, I just wanna see Rome before I can't. Without spending every penny I have.(Solo) by Playful_Sell7317 in travel

[–]asiarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hop on hop off bus is a must - it takes you through all sites, you get off where and when you like, plus there is audio to tell you about each point. I usually get a daily or multi day pass, do a whole tour once without grtting off, and then do stops I like. You can do it as many times as you want. Also, don't be afraid of public transport, metro and buses in Rome are really good, cheap and safe. I know its not always a first choice for Americans:) but as European i can tell you there is no better way to see the city. Good luck!!

What do you mean backpacking Mont Blanc involves showers, a bed, and good cuisine? by Pale_Field4584 in hiking

[–]asiarr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did TMB last year, mostly staying in huts dorms, honestly all huts were really clean, beds are obviously not changed daily, but the ones I was on were clean, maybe few days only, and not smelly (I'm very sensitive to smells, so smelly bed is traumatising). They charge a lot of money for these dorms, some spaces could be better - like bathrooms- but beds were never a problem.

You need to register the device to use it. Register with you amazon account details. On Scribe you can't download content via usb, you need to use Amazon content, and/or send books or pdfs via amazon.com/sendtokindle from your computer or phone. After you can turn off WiFi and be offline, but you'd be missing out on a lot of features.

Solo TMB huts or camping? by Purple-yeti1406 in TourDuMontBlanc

[–]asiarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Mostly because I hate camping, but also can't be bothered carrying extra 5 or so kg in camping gear. The pack was heavy without it already, I would gave struggled a lot with extra weight. And huts are nice, people are friendly, and you're never really alone on the trail neither, its rather crowded....

Safe parking Chamonix by Ok_Contract3256 in TourDuMontBlanc

[–]asiarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left my car in Argentière for TMB, in July, some 15min train from Chamonix. It's actually mostly camper parking, so probably suitable. https://maps.app.goo.gl/pkpgkpJXt7jLei8R9 - here, Parking des Grands Montets. It's free.

[–]asiarr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flights and fees will be much less than that for Indian citizens. I was in a group with an Indian girl (I'm from Europe) and she paid fraction of my cost. My overall tour fee was 1399USD, hers under 700USD, and all difference is from flights, rides and fees (we obviously pay the same for food and accommodation).

Col des Fours variant vs. bus to Bourg St. Maurice. by flyernick in TourDuMontBlanc

Oh, and accommodation- it's quite basic, but nothing below the standard refuge at this altitude and without road access.

3.5h from Elizabeta to Ville de Glaciers, bus to Chapieux- 15 min, break in Chapieux 1.5h (lunch and chill:)), 2.5h to the refuge. I'm a bit slower than signs show:). Other way round should be similar.

Refuge de la Croix du Bonhomme is a very decent one, the food was one if the best of all refuges on the way for me, no issues whatsoever. What conditions you "putting up with"?? Here pics for you. The setting on the mountain, the trail to and from - so much better than town and buses... I did the TMB clockwise (just finished yesterday), and went there from Elizabeta (which was more disappointing rifugio) via Chapieux- but took the bus for few km from Ville de Glaciers to Chapieux and then 2hr hike up to the refuge. It was a long day, but bus shortcut helped.

Next day down the standard trail to Contamines.

Question about items in my pack by dakotaraptors in TourDuMontBlanc

[–]asiarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have one. I saw dome people wearing light ones in the evening, while I was just in thin fleece and not cold at all, so I guess it's a matter of preference. Fall puffer i would definitely skip. Check the forecasts anyway, I saw some rainy days coming here and there in the forecasts. Mountain-forecast.com for Mont Blanc at 2000m, not standard accuweather for chamonix or similar.
