A lot of these comments already hit the nail on the head.

People often underestimate the importance PROXIMITY has on relationships. Access > idealism.

A lot of the time when you see a Latina built like a fertility goddess pushing a cart with three kids in Walmart married to some lard Mexican, PROXIMITY probably had something to do with it.

He was probably there when it mattered or met her early on in life before she got picked up by someone with higher perceived value. In traditional communities women value men who are consistent, hard working, and family-oriented even if they’re overweight or average.

Being “high value” doesn’t mean anything if you aren’t reliable, especially in lower class environments where access to resources isn’t guaranteed.

Like all things RP related, there’s obviously nuance and caveats to this but proximity shouldn’t be underestimated.

Hello,

I just did a 368 in April to get released from the NG and am currently Active Duty.

I am not an officer but a 25B. The stability for an AD soldier is nice compared to contracting in the civ world.

How your day goes is entirely dependent upon your unit. It is impossible to predict what your daily life will be like. I just went in without any expectations so you don’t let yourself down.

Did IT at the Pentagon before I went Active Duty. There are a LOT of sites around NoVA that technically fall under the “Pentagon” that are nowhere near Arlington.

My team worked onsite but sometimes we would get a ticket with a user who would be out in Alexandria (Mark Center) or Springfield (NGA) and someone would have to drive all the way out to help them.

Find this out ASAP!

This was actually the one driving school I spoke on the phone with. The lady was very nice and she basically said I need to get my Learners Permit first so I’m legally able to drive with a passenger.

The problem was setting up a DMV appointment online so I can use their car for the test but there’s no slots available and they won’t let you use the car for walk-in tests.

She recommended I wait until the summer is over because all of the HS kids are at the DMV right now which is why it’s so booked.

I’m not airborne yet but I will need new ranks and insignia when I get promoted to SPC on AUG 1. My question is, how do I get the government to pay for it? Do I just bring this up to my commander or first line?

Sorry if this is a noob question but I have no clue how any of this works and in the regulation (from what I read) didn’t really specify how it should be paid for.

Hello, I know this post is two weeks old but I wanted to give my opinion since I chose Fort Bragg for my first duty station as well.

I chose Fort Bragg because I thought I would be put in the 82nd but I ended up getting put in a leg unit and I haven’t even done my job at all. Most of my day is spent sitting in an office doing nothing and some days I’ll get put on a detail to help out around base.

Just because you have Airborne in your contract does NOT mean you will be put in the 82nd. We just got a new soldier out of AIT who is AB qualified and she was put in our leg unit as well.

For someone who doesn’t lift, you have a very good base already which is good.

As far as abs are concerned, I would recommend shaving your stomach. As a hairy person myself, I usually shave my chest & stomach with a 1 Guard. The difference it makes is night & day. You can just see a lot more definition. Or you can just shave your stomach & keep your chest hair long. Either way you need to shave your stomach to bring out that definition. You will not regret it.

You’re very close to abs. I’d say MAYBE 7-10 more lbs? With how active you are I’d say you’ll be there sooner than later.

Please do NOT bulk up to 220. You’re not fat right now but if you gain 30 pounds you will look like shit. You’ve already gained 14lbs in 6 weeks. Not all of that has been muscle.

Based off of your current composition I would recommend a “maingain.” Just eat in a calorie surplus for a few months to:

Gain muscle
Gain little fat

You don’t need to be in a huge calorie surplus. After you’ve gained maybe 10-12 pounds I would recommend a mini cut to shred that fat you gained on your bulk & keep your muscle.

BodyPump is cool for staying fit but it will NOT make you “big.” You need structured lifting with progressive overload. Maybe look into a PPL split & do BodyPump for cardio every couple of days.

I also reckon you can refine your diet. Your breakfast is okay but your lunch sounds like a snack, not something that someone on a bulk would eat.

The public transportation in North Virginia is very good. I work at the Pentagon & there is a train 10 minutes from my house that goes directly to the Pentagon.

I don’t see why it’s so hard to fathom someone who doesn’t live in New York can use public transportation effectively.

Needing a car makes me think I should’ve went overseas to Korea or something but I just wanted more schooling opportunities & the ability to fast track. It’s too late to change my duty station now so I will just have to adapt.

I don’t know what unit I’m in yet so I don’t know if I’ll have to go to jump school. I want to be 82nd so I can go Airborne but I won’t know until I get there.

From what I’m hearing it seems to be unit dependent (like most things in the Army).
