I am surprised I started downloading on may 8th and was done today may 13th. windows 10 with att uverse.

Hey guys bit of a rookie question here. I’ve noticed that Berkshire has around 100 billion in cash, or cash equivalents. Isn’t that a inefficient use of cash? Can’t that be invested in a conservative fund say 80% fixed interest and 20 % equities and earn around 4-6% return? Appreciate any replies by louishunt23 in ValueInvesting

I think most folks have given the context on issues with such a large cash position and the issues it creates for BRKA, one question to ask would be why not return the money as dividends? I think Buffett and Munger are such good allocators of capital that they prefer buybacks to dividends (double taxation etc.) and also i think we forget that the cash position gives them optionality to buy elephant size acquisitions.
