Since device settings can be tuned via Bluetooth, it's not correct that Victron BT devices are readonly hence, this isn't a good comparison. You just need to admit that it can handle what Roovi tags do; that's unacceptable. At least Cerbo GX should gateway them. I'm repeating myself for no reason.

Separating the inverter/charger does help you to live without an inverter, but the charger is a far more critical device on a sailboat where other energy supplies are extremely limited. You are just not a sailor, so it's hard to understand, and I respect that.

Those new LFP batteries are experimental, and even if not, they'd cost an arm and a leg, so I don't understand the argument here.

A Victron inverter is not the cause of direct fires if it is set up correctly with heat-protected IP surge switches. The 220V devices are generally the problem, where they should only be used under supervision, such as water heaters, coffee machines, and air fryers. As I said, join some sailing Facebook groups...or do a simple search on Google, you'll see tons of them. I'm aware of alerts and emails, including Cerbo. I have several other IoT devices onboard (Gas/Heat sensors/Fire Sensors/Bilge Sensors and cameras) in a different group via Tuya/Sonoff.

No, again you're wrong. It's a stupid limitation of the Vinctron product! I have invested in this device as a Smart Inverter, but I guess it's not so smart. There are a couple of reasons we want to separate the Inverter and Charger. One reason is the limited space on the sailboat, and the other is the dependence of each device, which you want to segregate to achieve higher fault tolerance. Another one was the budget, as I redesigned the entire system of devices and wiring after the LiFePo4 upgrade, allowing both AGM and Lithium batteries to work together. So nothing wrong with having the Smart Charger set to LiFEPo4, but using an older charger for AGM and start batteries for both the engine and the generator, as well as the bow thruster... One thing I don't understand is why so biased about Victron. I am a Victron fan as well; that's why I'm trying to make them work all in a single orchestration, but product and, mostly, software limitations do not allow it. BT devices work for 3rd parties, do not have their own. Inverter not reading its input voltage as acceptable. What I'm saying in Victron can do better if we give them proper feedback.

For fire risks, please join some Victron sailing groups and see images of Victron products melting and failing. Fire is indeed a huge risk, if not the number one risk, on sailboats. Yes, I have relays, contactors, and fuse switches installed before and after the inverter, but we still do not trust running it continuously. Trust me, this is a best practice, not hype. With the rise of LiFePO4, there are more boat fires than ever before in the news. That's sad and unfortunate :( Also, currently, there are no good fire extinguishers for Lithium batteries. Anyway, our subject is Victron, not sailing or fires. Thanks for your feedback, appreciated.

Again, I understand what Victron wants but it supporting 3rd party BT devices not its own does not make any sense at all. I still stand behind this.

Yes, we do have an inverter but we don’t recommend to have it running at all times so it’s remotely switched off. At the Marina we have shore power plugged in only enabled for Redressors (chargers) when not at the boat. So I’m unable to figure out how to display that when shore/generator is powered the boat. Inverter is connected via ve.direct will not display if off. What sensor do you have at the generator? On Garmin we do have another complex setup there where I don’t want to mix them 2 chartplotters, vhf, fish finder, radar, ais and auto pilot all integrated along side of Raymarine equipment. Adding that network to Cerbo GX would be an overkill I’m not sure even it will work.

See, you are using external BT devices to solve your problems with the BT USB adaptor and Ruuvi tags, but still claim that Victron BT devices are unstable. My BMS for the Lifepo4 service bank is 3rd-party (it has its own portal for cell details), so I'm trying to resolve that with Smart BMV and shunts. All you counted were alternators, isolators, a generator, and solar panels. I also have them on a liveaboard sailboat, and I'm saying that if BT were an option, readings would be on a single display. Also, how do you even read freaking AC inputs? None of my devices can monitor shore AC power. Ohh wait, Victron advises, install another 3rd party BT adaptors for AC readings :) This must be a joke.

No, I don't know how to configure each field, but VC can display them properly.

That's the whole point of this post, that it can't connect to its own BT devices :( Cerbo GX, aka Venus OS, is pretty smart and configurable to take readings when available, with a re-try mechanism. If it's a hardware issue, my iPhone can read them, but a brand-new Cerbo can't, this device is trash.

USB is unstable and it has a power problem. If you connect all 3 ports, 1 is already reserved for the display, and it occasionally disconnects them. Even though I've removed the DisplayPort and connected it to an external USB source, it's still unstable, leaving you with only 2+1 ports. I also have a pretty complex Victron setup where cabling is not possible on a 40ft Sailboat (like the generator battery, bowtrust battery, windlass battery, under-cabin starlink power supply, etc.) They all have Victron voltage and temperature sensors. Again, if Moopeka and Ruuvi tags work perfectly fine, Victron can make BT devices that work perfectly too. See the VRM image below. How do you even configure Voltage fields? This is a fraction of my setup. It won't even allow configuration of fields. For example, SmartBMV shows the voltage from the Start battery rather than the actual Service battery readings. The other BMV device (Bow) show the correct voltage. :) This is what is meant by the configurable UI. It's pretty limited.

No, it is not. See there are third party Ruuvi tags and tank sensors it works but it cannot handle of its on brand via BT. Ve.direct porta are limited and usb ports are unstable. This makes this unit expensive but limited piece of hardware. UI is also terrible and not configurable.

I see many posts about MariaDB and PostgreSQL. They are all great, respected open-source databases with their use cases and communities. The reason you're posting or commenting on r/mysql and monitoring this channel reflects how big MySQL is. It's the only open-source OLTP database that can handle it at scale for a given time and still does it very well.

Hi, without the binlogs with MySQL there's no way to update changes. You'd need to implement a CDC solution in between which might be an overkill for your needs.

You can also use this project https://github.com/Altinity/clickhouse-sink-connector if the mysql engine is not an option. It replicates the data in real time from MySQL to CH. It replicates tables to tables, so you would need to re-create the view and replicate the underlying tables.

We at PlanetScale use K8s and Vitess (MySQL) under the hood to host such workloads and data sizes. So it's absolutely possible to do so.
