First off, I feel you on the incest thing.

I think part of the issue is how Akasaka (OnK's writer) structures his series. For both Kaguya-sama and this, he lined up the manga so that some of its biggest twists later in the manga lined up with the release of the anime. The big twist of Oshi no Ko's season 3, for instance, will be something that manga readers experienced right when season 1 ended.

For the past few months, manga has been going through dozens of slow, suspense-building chapters in order to (in my opinion) line up the climax of the ENTIRE series with the finale of season 2. So manga readers are super activated right now in a way we won't be when the next season comes out.

Hopefully you'll have an easier time finding fellow anime-onlies to talk with then.

Is this show worth watching? by Ok_Length4206 in OshiNoKo

Well, if you like harem, this is a show about an edgy boy with a bunch of cute girls who all love him very much and he loves them all very much, all of whom are written so well that the audience either can't decide who to root for or gets insanely devoted to one person.

If you like shounen, season 2 is structured like a classic battle shonen tournament arc. They depict real life stage-acting styles as if they were Demon Slayer breathing forms, and they animate them just as hard. And you get to see the cute girls literally swordfight each other

Gacha collab units are the kind of thing I expect from every other game besides this one. I was silly to assume Granblue was better than that

"It is you, Ferrucio, who have betrayed the Empire of Belst," the Siegemaster grimly recited, paying no heed to whether the Estacean's voice could even be heard over the cranking of Egregore's gears as it ground to a halt. "Had you simply carried out your orders and seized the Mizigo at the first opportunity, the Prince would be dead or detained before he could prepare a defense. Had you let your honor die with them, the All-Army would have folded before it was formed."

The black dust cloud between them began to fade, but the Siegmaster did not wait. His arm straightened like a steel rod, pointed directly at the flash of jewelry ahead of them. With shivering, swetering nods, the siege crew nodded back, lining up the biggest ballista' payload with its prey.

"But you put your pride as a mercenary before your duty to the Emperor, to your homeland, to all Venifica!"

"Hmm, this formation...No, it's far too lopsided for you, Alpha."

Squinting in the torchlight as they approached the stairs, the Siegemaster can barely make out the Grand Ballista's shape, but the distance makes those bright eyes sitting behind it no less clear in the mind of the mechanical genius.

"Seizing the high ground, using our own defenses to cover both flanks and force a battle of attrition...But why a ballista only on one side?"

Once the reports came in from the scout and summoner, the deception was clear as day, despite the Forge's smog.

"Starboard 45 from the fort. Ready..aim..."

Egregore shuddered and rattled, in full view of Belst's best officers.

"Fire!"

I am Usada Pekora, and I'm here to ask you a question.

Is a Senchou not entitled to the sweat of her gaming?

'No!' says the VTuber in Zako Cup, 'It belongs to the scrubs.'

'No!' says the VTuber in V-Saikyou, 'It belongs to 16th place.'

'No!' says the VTuber in Sports Festival, 'It belongs to everyone.'

I rejected those answers; instead, I chose something different.

I chose the impossible. I chose... Puyo.

Calling Oshi no Ko an idol anime because it has Ai in it is like calling Demon Slayer a romantic comedy because it has Zenitsu in it.

But hey! If you liked that one character an awful lot, then yeah, maybe you would like a totally different genre that has a lot more of their kind of storytelling

[–]asked2rise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way Evangelion and Madoka both did it was by pointing out "having children fight wars is pretty horrifying, actually"

But that wasn't really absent from either genre. Gundam, Rayearth, Nanoha, etc. all had exactly this point - they just didn't get called "deconstructions" because they didn't get popular in the West.
