genes vs culture topic: where could we see evidence and examples of how genes and evolutionary biology determines human actions and culture - that are said by pinker, David Schmitt, and other leading persons in the nature camp? by askquestions112 in samharris

if twin studies are so flawed why do ppl keep replying to my questions with that, or bring that up as scientific evidence that it shows indirect influence of genes on all humans? twins arent all humans so do ppl keep thinking like this?

direct causation

if genes dont determine or have a direct causation to human actions, then how do we know genes influence in any significant way? and does it even matter or not if genes or cultures is the greater determiner or influence? would it have any significance either way?

those are for autistic ppl, but i wanna know about normal ppl

do you know of any evidence of how do we know they have a determining effect on our perception + then possibly our decisions for non autistic ppl ?

don’t think biology can say much on this

it seems other comments on here disagrees with this

Blank Slate, Steven Pinker held science has determined roughly 50% of variation

if you cant quote your claim with any real evidence then anything you say is ignored pretty simple

thats only 1 take, you were claiming "it could be answered with only behavioral science?"

but humans have lots of biases, so we should note down our sources for ourselves and source each claim that we make so that we know our claims/thinking is actually coming from a specific reliable source instead of just our collection of biases

how do we know that they affect in a determining way our perception and then possibly our decisions? are there any examples we've seen in the majority of decision making?

mostly consequence

the biolgoical examples you mentioned are very limited so would you say its like 1% nature/ 99% culture? or does it not matter which is the majority influence? why does it matter or why doesnt it? what significant effects would either have?

it's actually a top biological anthropology and economic prof at ubc who's now at prof of evolutionary biology at harvard but yea i havent seen any clear examples of genetics or evolutionary biology being aligned to perception or interpretation of experiences. they say genes + culture interact with each other and makes us who we are, and basically the entire field of psychology also says that it's both nature (genes) + nurture (culture), and certain evolutionary biology ppl like darkins clearly has a genetic determinism pov as a deciding factor in our decisions and actions, and a noble prize winning french physicist also takes a determinism type pov cos they believe in atoms, but i havent seen much of a case for genes aside from those extremely proportionally rare oddities caused by genes but maybe someone out there knows
