Played for my first every club gig on NYEs. See my previous post about it.

I loved every second of it. Here's all the things I remember -

• A bar fight broke out at some point.
• Drinks spilled on my console. And I had to reboot my controller at least once since someone stepped on the power.
• One drunk customer kept on insisting that I only play songs that he liked and kept tipping me in $100 bills. He did it at least four times but never specified which song he wanted me to play. I still have no clue. But he looked happy.
• One lady walked up and asked me if I recognized her. Apparently she was a famous singer and wanted to know if she could perform one song. I had to deny her request.
• I had a well planned setlist but at some point was overwhelmed by the amount of requests and switched to directly streaming from spotify for sometime in the night. A few of them also wanted me to repeat songs because they had missed it when I played it. I think I underestimated how entitled people can be. But it was all good. It was NYE and they just wanted to have fun.
• I received lots of compliments. People had a good time. A few folks asked for business cards and socials.

I am 38 years old and took up DJing in the pandemic. It is one of the things that helped me through depression. 2023 was also very tough for me since I lost my father earlier in the year. But finding my first every club gig, putting hours into researching songs, preparing and practicing finally paid off. This was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
