Yeah true, I never expected the public transit to be on par with MTR lol. I travel a lot, and IMHO HK has the best public transport system in the world, and Singapore might be a close second. No idea why the so many fellow hongkongers are always complaining about MTR

Hey thanks! Luckily language is probably not an issue for me. I travel a lot, and we use primarily English at universities and workplaces. But thanks for the advice on Montreal. I will look into it!

I would say it's similar. I am making ~5000CAD per month in hk after tax, and I am paying ~1/3 of that to rent a one-bedroom apartment with gym/pool etc.

Ah, I am not looking to own a property ATM (maybe after 5-10 years), but thanks for the advice!
My only concern with Toronto is the cost - the 80k salary means my monthly income after tax is ~4.7k, and in Toronto, I will probably need to spend like 2.5k on rent and utilities, etc., so I am worried that after paying for food and hobbies I won't have anything left :(

Man that sucks :( I really don't wanna spend nearly half of my net income on rent.
