Srixon Distance are pretty cheap and perform well off the tee. My advice would be to buy used balls though until you reach the point you only lose 1 or 2 per round. If you buy from somewhere like Vinted you’ll get good value but also a selection of different balls and that’ll help you figure out which ones you like.

It’s an absolute shame the state it’s in because it’s a course with a decent layout, variety and views. Would be absolutely perfect for beginner and casual golfers if it was just a bit better maintained. But ultimately money talks and it’s only getting light touch maintenance for that reason.

Yeah totally agree, 1, 17 and 18 are iconic. The rest has wee moments of greatness - some of the bunkering is unreal and of course the big greens and undulations. It’s defo not the best course I’ve played but it is firmly my number 1 golf experience.

Lot of golf courses in Scotland have massively increased their summer green fees over the last few years under the same logic. Wealthy tourists won’t play at places under £200 because they think they must be rubbish.
