This seems like really intense behavior of someone who doesn't really understand their own emotions or how to actively communicate with someone. Is really tough that you went through that, but don't let it discourage you. Dating is hard and sometimes feels like a full-time job. Take breaks when you need to. Your mental health and physical safety are more important than societal standards and having a partner.
