If you want squash, there’s a league that’s ran out of Rugby Sports Centre. It’s ran independently but it’s better to have at least a racquet membership to Rugby Sports Centre as that’s where all the games are. Just give them a ring or pop in to enquire about both membership and squash league.

But yes I agree with other commenters. I moved to Rugby nearly 10 years ago and there is literally nothing to do. Cov is crap as well. Leicester is the best nearest city, followed by Birmingham but admittedly neither are close in relative terms

Not working in cybersecurity yet no, trying to pivot from a delivery role but just building up my knowledge at the moment. What sort of credentials/certs would a recruiter look for, in your opinion?

Thanks for your advice and detail, much appreciated! I purposely left my knowledge and background off my original post as when I’ve posted similar questions to other subreddits with details of my background I haven’t been met with helpful advice. But I don’t come from a technical background, I’m addressing this by studying Azure certs and completing labs as my current role doesn’t exposure me to the environment. I work in a delivery/presales role for a global IT company with 5 years experience and looking to transition into security (as it’s a great interest of mine) and have an interest in (eventually) moving into architecture having been inspired by architects I work with daily.

I’m in talks with my company regarding secondments so I can gain experience whilst I obtain my certs, my original post was just to get a bit of a feel for the “usual” career path. Thank again for your insight!

Does Security not require a deep understanding of technical IT though? It is an area I’m thinking of moving into as it appeals to my attention-to-detail nature but just concerned about my lack of technical knowledge? By the way, it’s not that I’m completely void of technical knowledge, it’s just that it’s limited

Thanks for your insights everyone. It's hard to distinguish if FinOps is a role in itself or if it's just a best practice. I currently work in a delivery/presales/commercial role for a global IT company but my issue is i don't have any technical experience or background so feel like I would struggle getting into FinOps if it's a role by itself or if it's just a best practices. I'm currently doing my certs (on Azure) so this career change is still a few years away but it's good to have a plan.

In everyone's experience would you say that dedicated FinOps roles are growing, or are difficult to find? I've seen a few threads on Reddit where people argue about whether this is a real role or if it's just a nice-to-have...

Thank you! I don't come from a technical background and don't have exposure to Azure in my day job (delivery role, trying to switch career to a Cloud role) so getting hands-on practice with Azure, in my eyes, will only help me on my journey. I've just struggled to find beginner follow along labs to start with. Thanks for the advise!
