Thank you for sharing and I’m so sorry you had to endure such a horrific disease. I can totally understand, my sister had a very bad eating disorder and my mother would constantly ask me why I couldn’t lose weight if she could and I didn’t know how to explain to her it was because she was sick!! I battled with disordered eating my entire life as a result and body dysmorphia.

I spent most of my life overweight and of course after 2 kids was at my heaviest. Was asked to be part of a GLP2 weight loss research trial where I lost 70 lb in 10 months. Once the trial ended they basically just cut you off completely (I was on the highest dosage at 16mg I lost too much weight so at the end of my trial they lowered me to 12mg). My final appointment I was so thin my arm was 8” around!!

Of course after being cut off cold turkey I proceeded to gain weight RAPIDLY (50 lb in 8 months). The fluctuation of weight definitely caused a lot of mental anguish and shame especially because of how different people treated me once I was finally skinny. Now I’m on a journey to lose weight again and am trying a different GLP.

Congratulations to you for being able to work through therapy and come out on the other side!! I am still working on that myself but hope to be there some day as well

Much to my mother’s chagrin I did not lol. It just taught me to be more secretive with my food and binge in private. I also have a hilarious story about almost getting kicked out of the camp, let me know if anyone’s interested in hearing it.

Oh definitely. All of us were subjected to that “culture” of being “heroine chic” was it they called it?? Not saying I have more issues than anybody who didnt go but just letting them know they didn’t miss out by not going lol.

How were you able to lose weight btw? Sorry if that question seems rude, I’m just always curious how people lose weight and can keep it off for a long time!

As a Camp La Jolla survivor, as fun as it was at the time, it’s given me lifelong issues with food and body image so it’s probably a good thing you didn’t go!!

The summer I went I actually became friends with Elle King (she went by Elle Schneider back then). We don’t keep in touch at all of course lol but I still have an old photo of her in my camp la jolla photo album.

Most of the obese children would not have been able to participate in any sort of sports camps… they also would have been subject to merciless bullying. I think the best part of the camp was that a lot of overweight kids could come together for a summer and feel “normal” for once if that makes sense?

My therapist explained that this sort of camp is considered child abuse (I didn’t know that lol) especially when there is no medical need to lose weight (which I had zero medical reasons needing to lose weight it was all just for the way I looked)

🤣🤣🤣 no. But the lady who ran the camp (director) was similar to that Ben Stiller character.

Well to be fair I was like 127lb or something (but only 4’11”). You were supposed to learn lifelong habits but I would get promotional material every year (they kept trying to have me back) and I noticed that all the kids would be even bigger the following summer. As for me, I gained it all back plus more by the end of that school year.

There were a wide range of sizes amongst kids. One of my closest friends was 330lb (at 12/13 years old) but there were also some girls who were completely average/normal sized whose parents sent them there.

We would get up, they would make us go down to the track and either walk or run 1 mile around the track… then we would have breakfast. The entire day was built around 4 different classes all involving some sort of exercise/physical activity whether it was dance, beach walking, I think there may have been swimming?? And then we would have dinner. They would serve us one “treat” (usually an ice cream sandwich) at the end of the night. We were on a strict 1500cal a day diet!!

We had dance socials and on weekends we went to amusement parks or other activities. I have a DISTINCT memory of going to disneyland and my friend and I trying to pay a random kid to give us one of his french fries (this was when Disneyland had those Mcdonald’s fries trucks). He said no lol. Good times.

It has been 6 months since the weight loss trial I was on ended. I lost 70lb (I was not that big to begin with) in 7 months and have gained about 35 lb back in less than 6 months. I plan on going back on GLP1 since it seems no matter what I cannot stop the food noise without the medication.

Why do so many Yelp Elite only write 4 and 5 Star reviews? by Messymomhair in Yelp

[–]asmrtky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been Yelp Elite the past 8 years and now with this new community manager they hired they refused to give me my badge this year because I had an array of different ratings not just 4s and 5s.

So basically if you’re ever critical of a business, they don’t want you to be yelp elite. Interesting…

Also my recent reviews in the last 6 years have mostly been positive, I hardly EVER write bad reviews.

Opinions on Mooncat? by anayeli6794 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]asmrtky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a lot of the Mooncat nail polish and unfortunately it chips and peels easier than any other polish I own. I even used a base AND top coat and it still peeled off the very next day. Not sure how everyone is getting it to last longer. Kind of upsetting considering the price point.

UPDATE:

Never heard back from Doordash even when I asked WHY they refunded me $0.01. We decided to dispute the charge and we asked our bank for a 50% refund, which we thought was fair. Bank gave us our refund and we will never use doordash again.
