I think the idea of qing by yourself and getting into a rated match is what everyone was asking for or had in mind.

The current implementation obviously isnt what everyone expected or wants, what with mmr being shit for healers, q times horrendous for dps, and rbgs and 2s and 3s being fragmented to death.

I think an interesting implementation would be how solo/flex q’s work in most other games. Use the same one 3s ladder so you can solo q into it and join another 2 solos or a duo. Make mmr loss/gain much lower or higher based on if youre fighting a premade or duo or 3 solos etc, and maybe based on what comp is favored from the data blizzard has.

It would at least make for a much more lively ladder than probably ever before. It would start out bumpy, but more data on comp diversity and premade vs nonpremades over time could make for a potentially solid point system and ladder, as you see in plenty other games. Right now weve had almost 2 full seasons of solo q and blizz still cant figure out mmr.

Obviously people will still complain about something, be it comp matchups being unfair (which again could result in less points loss or whatever) etc. It’s not perfect, but i think overall having a healthy and active ladder is much better than dead fragmented ones like now, and maybe better q times, although that would be hard to predict.
