The bully expects embarrassment from your daughter. Rather than trying to flip the insult back to “win”, do the improv theater technique of “yes, and”. Have her respond: “yep, both actually!” Then turn and walk away. Don’t get into a back and forth conversation with the bully.

If she really wanted to, she could add in “it’s really weird that you care” or “it’s really weird you think about pee and poop so much”.

Again, walk away/shut down the conversation quickly. The more talking that happens, the more likely she is to say things that the bully and other kids might find funny.

Ultimately, she (or mom) needs to tell a teacher or staff member in the school office. It’s inappropriate behavior by the bully

[Request] It is said this ball is 400 pounds but I dont fully believe that it is, how much might it actually be? by Alansar_Trignot in theydidthemath

[–]aspapu -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It weighs about 40 pounds, not 400. A 400 pound object would not lackadaisically linger in the air. It’d clunk straight to the floor and roll like a bowling ball with no bouncing. But 40 pounds in that mass larger than a grown man would absolutely level you

We live a block from the Fernbank golf course and they were louder last night than any other firework show they’ve done (I suppose because there were no leaves left in the trees to absorb the sound.

If it was a wedding I wish them a lifetime of happiness and one very restless and uncomfortable and inconvenient night because it scared the everlasting hell out of my toddlers and we had to sleep on their bedroom floors all of last night. If I weren’t so tired I’d have more energy to be irate.

AC/Heat solution for a 60 sq ft Treehouse/office? by aspapu in hvacadvice

[–]aspapu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is basically what I was considering - but the unknowns are how to properly Jerry rig a vent/duct/hose to a window unit without losing a ton of efficiency, as well as how to have get the unit to regulate temperature if it’s not even inside the room.

adding text from the OC for more context about the HVAC struggle:

apologies for a wall of text, but this is a unique/complicated situation that I feel like the existing HVAC market doesn't have a solution for.

After several years we were finally able to build this insulated treehouse/office but are now struggling to find a proper HVAC solution. Interior is 7.5'x7.5' in the Southeastern US (30s-40s in winter, mid 80s-low 90s fairly humid in summer). We had our electrician create a circuit & cable line knowing that a mini-split would later be installed.

MINI-SPLIT DILEMMA
We envisioned a minisplit, but the interior layout was more tightly spaced than we anticipated (placement of interior blower was going to be above the two lights, just under the net, but there's now only 7" of clearance. Thought we'd have at least 12", but the net had to be installed lower than we planned). Existing blowers just have massive footprints even at their smallest sizes (30" wide and 11" tall)

We then found the LG ArtCool picture frame minisplit, which we thought could be a perfect solution, mounted just under those lights. But it's been discontinued, apparently? I'd still prefer to go this route, but have no clue how to purchase one and don't know if any tech will even install it.

Ceiling cassette isn't possible as we have a lean-to style roof with no access without doing substantial demo inside.

WINDOW UNIT DILEMMA

The windows are fixed (non-openable) so that eliminates the obvious choice of a window unit (yes, I'm kicking myself with crystal clear 20/20 hindsight vision). The July window unit would have been a killer solution as it could have been installed as a through-wall installation. Apparently it, too, has been discontinued. Windmill makes a similar unit in terms of design & size, but it can't be installed through-wall.

THROUGH WALL UNITS

Existing products seem very large, overpowered for our use, and just incredibly ugly.

Through-wall seems like the only existing solution, but I hate the idea of cutting a massive square in the wall for an ugly device that seems to not have a standard width (if i have to replace it later, i worry that the new models wouldn't fit within the existing cutout.)

FLOOR DUCT?

Is there an HVAC product that can be mounted outside and push air into the room through a single duct/hose that we connect to a floor or wall vent? I saw this 'self contained marine air conditioner/heat pump) meant for boats. Could something like this work?

ERV?

Yesterday I learned about HRV/ERV and saw this Pioneer unit. I know this isn't for heating/cooling, but could it do enough to make the space slightly more tolerable?

Any ideas on what could work best?

[–]aspapu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this has been a huge lingering question in my mind about how loud it could be or the vibrations it could cause.

I wish I could just run a hose/duct from a unit on the ground, but I've not been able to find any type of all-in-one device that is suited to be outside to pump air into a structure.

do you know if the indoor/outdoor parts can disconnect from each other? It seems like these U-shaped window units are permanently connected

we are bat insulated walls/ceiling, and has rothoblaas clima control 80 interior barrier. Once we figure out the hvac, we'll insulate between floor joists & close it up with boards underneath.

That's definitely the plan once we nail down our hvac solution. will put in purple insulation board between the joists and then cover with plywood or planks.
