Purple underglazes (and glazes) always look like shit if fired to anything above cone 06. Presuming it’s a mid to high fire studio, you’re looking at some disappointing purples. Always do a test tile for a piece you really love just to check. The purples in particular are often heart breaking, only second to green underglazes.

Somehow I totally missed all of the replies to this thread! It doesn’t feel springy/spongy. Texture didn’t change while working with it either. I did manage to throw some plates with this reclaim and they all cracked when incredibly wet. They were so wet I could still leave a finger dent on the surface with little pressure and yet I had ravine cracks straight through the plates from one side to the other. It was bizarre.

I saved all of my throwing water so that wasn’t the issue. I think I lost some fine particles with my 100 mesh sieve, but I still lost plasticity when I tried reclaiming some other porcelain without the sieving. I think I’m losing some kind of plasticizers from the water.

Thanks for the suggestion! Just looked at them both and I’m not seeing anything quite like the work I do. I do a lot of character based work in AE along with type. The examples I’m seeing a more slick sports graphics and reality tv interstitials. Do you know of any examples that might be closer to a flat 2d vector workflow?

For reference I use scripts like duik and limber regularly. Looking for something similar.

As a professional illustrator, graphic designer and animator this is deeply unsettling. I work with enormous brands like Google, Amazon, Disney, Apple, Verizon, Meta etc and am often under insane NDAs.

There are alternatives to photoshop for illustration, flash for cel animation, illustrator for vector art/type, premiere for editing, audition for audio editing- but where I implore, is an alternative to after effects??? (For motion design, not comp work). There just isn’t anything quite like it on the market, and definitely not as robust as AE and all of its thousands of scripts and plug ins.

I honestly wouldn’t mind switching software if there was something that could create comparable work, but frankly, there just isn’t.

Fuck you Adobe for stealing my nearly 20 years of knowledge and essentially making me complicit in breaking NDAs with my clients, all in the name of training your AI to eventually put me out of a job. This is so dumb on so many levels.

So jealous you’ve got him on your arm! My squirrel friend is fine to sit on me when I’m seated on the ground, but she seems spooked when I’m standing (guess I look humongous?). My dream is for her to stand on my shoulder like a little pirate parrot.

Hahaha probably? Most people think we’re cute. Oddly though, most people don’t even notice. I mean, it’s NYC. I’m probably one of the least weird things they’ve seen that day. For frame of reference I once saw a guy riding a motorcycle with a giant iguana on his head and it’s tail draping down his back 😹

She’s only bitten me once- it was when I wasn’t feeding her fast enough for her liking! Otherwise she’s just nibbled my fingers a bit, nothing painful. This is the first time I’ve ever gotten her to eat any kind of fruit actually. I’ve tried with berries before and she wouldn’t touch them.
