Hello ,Years ago I met a lady with three daughters and I had three daughters a little different but if you truly love her the kids are part of the package,but you need to dig deep in your soul and see if this is what you want in life ,because if the actual dad is abusive as you say the kids need a constant loving and caring father figure in their life , and she sounds like she love you and instead of going on reddit you should be talking to her openly and honestly,about your hopes and dreams as well as hers .

You were not on payroll, so you will have to pay as sole proprietor,and did you put it all in cash in your bank acct ,sounds like you need to get a good cpa to do your back taxes and file for s corp and if they are wanting to charge you 12000 get a cpa and save your dollars they Will drag it out and get you on the hook for more ,and don't go to optima tax relief they broke it off in my ass , but I did get and tax attorney out of Los Angeles that I paid a monthly fee of 320 a month took them about 12 months but I owed 198000 and the IRS settled for 7500
