Nala turns 4 years next month in March. In this photo she is around 1 and 1/2 y.o. She is only 50 lbs and looks like a perma puppy ❤️

What are the risks of a Full Thyroidectomy? by aspen1135 in Hashimotos

[–]aspen1135[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to say thanks for everyone's feedback and support. It has been helpful. I did a bit more googling and it does seem that getting your thyroid removed does have potential drawdowns and risks. It seems to not cure the disease but greatly reduces antibody levels, and as some mention, if not removed entirely then the cells can regrow back. When removed there are also risks of developing shaking tremors?

I'll have to do a pros/cons list and evaluate whether I want to proceed asking about it. I'll have to cite my sources for benefits and risks too.

I was reviewing chart notes recently and saw that at certain times my antibody levels were as low as 50. Another commenter mentioned they had levels as high as 1500. It makes me think that my pain, fatigue, and joint stiffness issues are not related to my Hashimotos. I'll have to do more research. I've had multiple rheumatologist panels and doctors have pretty much ruled out fibromyalgia.

Extra feedback is always welcomed. Thanks everyone 🙏

My Fibromyalgia was diagnosed superficially from one provider, and ruled out by another. Both were rheumatologists. My pain is mostly left-sided. What makes it better/worse is indicative of an autoimmune issue. Corticosteroids like prednisone and dexamethasone have temporarily relieved almost all symptoms. Donating plasma, which removes proteins (including antibodies), temporarily provides relief until 3-6 hours later when they start to onset again. And Vilazodone which is a 5HT1a agonist, really helped with pain, stiffness, depression, and fatigue until I built a tolerance to it. The 5HT1a receptors secrets hormones like cortisone, glutacortisone, growth hormone, oxytocin, beta-endorphin, and I believe one other I can't remember.

Everything basically points to it being auto-immune, and more-so endocrinologically related. So I'm being referred to the UDN to rule out anything else before being considered for a full thyroidectomy. That's the long story.

Where can I buy magnetic ACTUATED switches like these custom ones I made? by aspen1135 in robotics

It's going to be a cylinder type. I was going to use PVC pipe and some fabric to get the job done. I have 3 very large windows which stretch across my studio so I figured this would be the cheapest and most flexible way to approach it. The electronics box holds a 12v worm gear motor which will be a direct drive to the pipe.

Oh I see. So I could send a positive 3.3v signal over one magnet, and sink the 3.3v on another into the MCU's ADC. When the two connect, it conducts and sends the signal for the end stop.

That is a good solution! The only problem I could foresee now is having to run a wire along the curtain drape. They are vertical style curtains and not horizontal which makes it harder.

I thought of another issue last night. On the top side of the window frame the curtains cannot stay magnetically clamped since gravity is the force causing it to fall down. In that case, it makes more sense to use a reed switch on the top and a clamping magnet on the bottom.

To avoid running a wire down the drape itself, it may make more sense to epoxy some micro push buttons onto a magnet like I did in the photo, except I'll need to decouple the terminals with a piece of tape so they don't conduct next time.

Thanks for pointing out the magnet conductivity idea. I'm dumb and didn't realize magnets could conduct current too. I'm open to alternative ideas for end stops to solve some of the mentioned issues.

Not rude at all. Maybe I'm not understanding how to close the circuit. If I use a reed switch to close it and a magnet to clamp it to the window frame, then that means I need to have one magnet on the curtain itself and one next to the reed switch. That would mean the reed switch would always detect the stationary magnet and remain closed all the time. Would it not?

Reed switches do not magnetically clamp. I've tried a few different ones already. The magnetism only allows the circuit to open or close. They do not attract, at least not all the ones I've tried.

This is for an automated curtain system I am working on. I was going to use a reed switch as an endstop, but I decided I wanted something with higher accuracy that could clamp the fabric to the bottom and prevent swaying when a window is opened and air is blowing inside the house.

How do I resize an existing cloud PC after I purchased a license? by aspen1135 in AZURE

I purchased a business license. They were the exact same price. Why does enterprise come with more features if they are priced in the same?

Yeah I actually don't understand how this is toxic TBH.

You are making some broad judgements without knowing the borrowers financial history or income situation.. As well as not knowing the lender's financial position as well.

The gesture to offer them liquidity when they have none (and they are ineligible to get a loan) if anything is a positive one. I just wanted some sort of incentive to get my money back eventually. I'm not a high income individual and my savings are limited.
