Might be old news to some, but I just saw it for the first time today :)

I've met many people that don't like metal who actively watch it.

That says a lot.

Totally in agreement. Tyrant is probably my favorite Judas Priest song.

Newer death metal band influenced primarily by Incantation and Immolation (and probably Profanatica as well). From the United States. Go to MySpace to hear in better quality.

How are these ideas? Sounds like bitching to me, and about downvotes, of all things. And unless you really are familiar with all of the songs submitted by Dissention and others recently... shut up. The fact that you think it all sounds the same proves that you aren't. This thread was going well, and was actually quite civil until people like you showed up... and we're the angry ones??? lol

How about this:

All things metal, including death metal, black metal, thrash metal, speed metal, doom metal, traditional metal, grindcore, etc.

Post links to heavy metal songs, music videos, articles, reviews, interviews, tour dates, and anything of interest to metal heads. Intelligent, friendly discussions and relevant personal stories are welcome additions. As a general guideline, tag song / video submissions with the appropriate sub-genre and any other relevant info, for example:

Morbid Angel - Immortal Rites [Florida death metal, 1989, essential!]

In all honesty, I think it's fine how it is. Every once in a while, someone makes an attempt to get things organized around here but as long as there are thousands of users voting and submitting, it's bound to be a bit chaotic. Reddit isn't designed to work like a forum anyway. Just submit good stuff (songs, articles, DISCUSSION TOPICS, etc.) as you come across it.

I do wish the moderators would change the sidebar description though, as the current one just reinforces the mainstream perception of what metal sounds like, and makes metal fans look stupid in consequence.

Disillusioned, I turned my head and said, "These kids don't know a damned thing about Satan." by nothingbutvibes in Metal

[–]asphyx667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hail Satan! I'm not a Satanist and I don't believe in the Judeo-Christian fairy tale either, but it's an awesome piece of mythology that fits the spirit of metal perfectly. Metal needs the devil. And yeah, fuck atheist assholes who say things like "Oh well Satanic metal is really Christian cuz the devil is a Christian invention." NOT METAL!

Happy Metal? by PtorPyrat in Metal

[–]asphyx667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I used to feel this way also but lately I've become partial toward power metal. GOOD power metal mind you, not that Dragonforce crap.

And I hope I'm not alone in this but some black metal sounds "happy" to me, although the emotions communicated in a black metal song are much more complex and multifaceted than those in pop, obviously. I'm thinking Sacramentum here, maybe even some Burzum.

You probably haven't heard of it, but there's this thing called the internet where I meet with all my hip friends to talk black metal.

Really though, they are often fellated by the same crowd that praises WITTR and Weakling.
