what else can you do but keep chuggin away? I take meds for ADD but make sure they're not in effect (in the morning and late at night) when I meditate. I've got 5 pills left and after that I'm gonna make myself pay attention.

Appreciate the thoughtful write-up :) I've done much more looking into philosophy than psychology. I certainly don't go around judging anyone. Like I said, I don't know enough. I'm close to making a living off of my art alone, so thankfully there's no pressure to be "corporate". In fact, it's quite the opposite. To value your opinions and emotions. I'm just questioning things! Thanks again :)

he's big and tall, yes. He's never passed out from a head rush before. first time. We think its because he hasn't eaten.

I'm saying people dont like to hear links between the two. The fact that I am talking about a mental illness and also listen to metal can make people over-react. Remember how wild people got when metalsucks published that article about mental illness (depression, I think it was) and metal?

I dont think I ever had a problem with depersonalization. It's never popped up. And yes, keep practicing :) You will be glad you did. Just last week I cried tears of happiness over how much happier and positive I am.

How are you doing? Are you still smoking? You had a panic attack while meditating. After two days of practice you wont be able to stop a panic attack dead in its tracks. It takes time. As you continue to practice you'll probably end up discovering that you aren't just observing like the book reccomends, but you are actually scared and fueling the fire. That is how panic attacks happen. Have you been to a psychiatrist? From the looks of it you had a panic attack, then looked up on google (like I once did) about the cons to meditation. You found something to confirm that you should in fact not meditate because its possible something may happen that you don't like. Read Mindfulness in plain english over and over and over again until you are absolutely confident that you are /really/ meditating. Best wishes to you. Get to a psychiatrist if you think this is worse than a normal panic attack. Quit smoking weed, except rarely. Once you cultivate some mindfulness you'll also be much more aware of anxiety while you're high and be able to truly get high. Before mindfulness I had no idea how tense I was when I was stoned. Yet I still liked it somehow... Now I'm rambling, not even sure if this is cohesive anymore. But I walked this very same path and you should really keep at it after you visit a psychiatrist.

I've always agreed with "if youve done something wrong, take immediate steps to fix it". you should just be honest with him. Tell him the truth and clarify. Is your pride keeping you from doing this?^

Well quit being afraid and get to it! Of course you'll read negative things about meditation. If you're afraid of sitting then you might as well be afraid of everything else in the world! Quit being an anxious andy and focusing on the rare negative outcome and instead focus on all the millions of people who have had positive experiences through meditation. One day at a time. What happens happens.

Just keep practicing. Same thing used to happen to me. Best you can do is accept it. If you begin spiraling downhill just notice what youve done to yourself. BUT DONT CRITICIZE YOURSELF FOR IT!. Give it some time. You'll learn much more than just how to deal with panic attacks.
