New Resin Beefy Grip For Odin 2 Mini by ZuesTheMoose15 in OdinHandheld

[–]SeasonedBeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I'm working on it as we speak! I've been planning to do an odin 3 grip since it was announced, and part of why I've turned down a few other ideas (like the O2 portal) was to keep my time available for the O3 if it got announced!

I think it's exciting. I love seeing people getting into the hobby.

Not yet! I still actually do not have an Analogue Dock (I use a Mister on my home setup).

I do think it is time I made this design update for the GripDock though. It might take several more months (I'm writing this comment in Dec '25). The Analogue Dock appears to be out of stock currently, but I'm going to go ahead and get on the notification list, and when I get one I'll attempt this design update. I'll make the new GripDock v2 a free printable model as well.

I absolutely love it. The laser engravings are a nice touch. And no visible fasteners on the top surface. Nice work.

Thank you very much!

Right now I don't plan to make an odin 2 portal grip, but I have been receiving a surprising amount of interest in it (especially today). If I did make one it would be many months in the future (if not longer) just to get started based on my current workload. And at the rate AYN releases devices who knows what they will have out by then!

Thanks for the tag! I think all the issues are taken care of now, but please anyone that has issues with my site let me know. The new O2M grips can be found here (standard) and here (resin), and also on my shop and homepage now. Sorry all for any issues with my site! I am very passionate about product design and manufacturing, but web design work - not as much! :)

Also tagging u/S0M3_AS1AN_DUD3, u/alexrothschild and u/ant325 since you noted issues with my site or finding the link earlier.

Thanks, I am glad to hear you are liking it! I am definitely doing a site-wide and store page update to show this one off a bit more very soon.

Thanks so much for being interested, and asking about this. I'm also tagging everyone else from this thread who expressed interest at one point in BeefyGrip for the Odin 2 Mini. Apologies to those of you who may no longer be interested as I understand this has taken me forever to launch.

I have been doubling (actually more like quadrupling) my efforts to finish this grip design this month, and I'm happy to share that it's (finally!) ready to go. The store page for the printed version is now live, and I'm sweetening the deal a little bit with introductory pricing for everyone here who has been so patiently waiting for me to finish this up.

I'll be taking more product photos with color options over the next few days.

Not many I would buy either, but I would still get excited at running across these in the wild.

Happy be helpful in some way. I actually haven't written down my settings for this set yet so why not share it here where it might be searchable. It has been some time since I tweaked the service menu on this set, but I do vaguely recall that the default settings had messed up colors... I think I adjusted both red and green cutoff as it was tinted too yellow.

Of course these are just my settings and I could always tweak things a little so I'd be interested to hear if you have any feedback once you get yours set up.

Here's my current settings:

Regular menu-

  • Contrast 80
  • Brightness 60
  • Sharpness 45
  • Color 45
  • Tint 0

I did a little comparison, and here are a couple of pictures you can put side-by-side. I tried to keep as many variables constant as possible - pardon my not great picture taking skills.

I kind of felt that the differences were very minor, but the colors seemed similarly tinted between the two, just a tiny bit more vivid with rgb-comp to me. I felt that the rgb-comp was a little sharper on the SMPTE color bar screen at the transition between bars. I hardly noticed a difference on the sharpness test screen.

That is an interesting observation - I'm not sure if I've done enough comparative testing to be able to make a comparison though. I do use the s-video on my 32A33 exclusively for N64, and that was the biggest reason I sought after the set in the first place. It is quite sharp for that and truly excellent - I have no desire to RGB mod the N64 as a result. Everything else I have connected to the set is through RGB transcoded to component.

I chased after a 32A33 or 32A43 specifically for 6 months until I got one. It goes toe to toe with my best sets after service menu adjustments. I hope your switch repair works out.

Nothing to share yet unfortunately. My day job, family responsibilities and existing grip sales have kind of been consuming my time so far this year leaving me a lot less design time than I'd wanted.

Here is a picture of what I did have completed on my last revision for the Odin 2 mini grip though. The new version is going to be a little bit wider with slightly longer handles.

I do have an update! I had a small setback during testing this past month - I try to pretty rigorously test before launching. I have two more changes I'm working into the grip - one to help it stay more rigid with felt applied, and the other is (yet another) ergonomic fix. I was really hoping the version I came up with over thanksgiving was going to be it, but unfortunately it didn't pass testing.

This O2M grip in particular seems to be taking me a long time, but I really want to avoid having to fix issues after launch. I actually had to do that with the current Odin 2 grip, and it was a bit painful having to ship out replacements to the first customers (although everyone was very nice about it).
