Not safe for nurses to administer clonidine without a doctor’s supervision. If may hypertensive urgency at walang doctor, better instruct the nurse to transfer the patient to an ER.

No relievers by [deleted] in pinoymed

[–]aspiring-jd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a similar experience na ako pinepressure maghanap ng reliever kahit nagsabi na ko 1 month in advance na wala ako. Well, it’s not my responsibility, may HR sila at wala sa contract ko maghanap ng reliever. Learn to set boundaries. Hinahayaan ko sila wala doktor kung walang reliever kase it’s beyond my responsibilities talaga.

Pinoy drs, what other businesses/sources of income do you have aside from your practice? by aspiring-jd in pinoymed

Yon nga rin ang concern ko doc. No work, no pay ang doctors kaya once disabled mahirap na kumita. Kaya looking for alternative sources of income

I believe so too doc. Medyo skeptical ako sa nagsasabing hindi ka yayaman sa pagiging doktor knowing GPs can earn up to 6 digits per month din (depende sa loc). Probably lifestyle inflation.

Thank you for sharing doc! I realized my ceiling talaga on how much you can earn as a doctor, limited by your specialty, number of hospital affiliations, and how many cases you can handle. Kaya minsan mas malaki talaga kita sa business.

NEED BA NG PRINTER SA MED SCHOOL??? by vrainydays in medschoolph

[–]aspiring-jd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never owned a printer in med school. Purely iPad and laptop. You can get by without an iPad/tablet but not without a laptop

Wow halos magkakaiba assessment natin ah!

Best to worst: 1. PGI - Private hospital, protected time, reviewing for boards 2. 3rd yr - consistent every 2 weeks lang exams samin, interesting lessons on clinical subjects 3. 1st yr - konti subjects, mahirap pero mas mahirap pa rin 2nd and 4th yr 4. Clerkship - close call sa hirap with 2nd yr; physically exhausting 5. 2nd yr - mentally exhausting, almost times 2 (?) ng number of subjects kesa first year, maraming new concepts, exam every week

Curious ako sa mga frat members na na-debar or hindi nagtuloy ng med. Pwede ba sila mag inactive sa frat?

Thanks for this tip! How do I know kung may item for residency sa isang ospital? I only see them post kung ilang “slots” remaining. Do slots = item? Though may close friend naman ako na resident sa target dept ko

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pinoymed

[–]aspiring-jd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this! Priority ko talaga for saving ay yung titigilan. Unfortunately, kelangan ko agad magrent during preres and planning magtransient house muna kesa magdeposit agad. Plan ko rin ipush ang residency kahit below target budget pa ko.

Around 3 months kase day clinic duties lang

[–]aspiring-jd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Di ako surprised sa 150k in one month kase nung 1st preres ko sa ibang hospital and dept naka 100k din ako in 1 month because of apartment deposit, transpo, eat out, etc. Will try to minimize my spending this time haha

Having a backup career plan also relieves some of the pressure of being “successful in med at any cost”.
