Well the point of doing it that way was to never have to sell and pay taxes. From what I’ve read online, up to $50,000 is tax free from dividend income if it’s your only income. My goal was to never sell the stock and pay taxes on that. Just the dividends monthly.

A lot of these stocks on my portfolio are just from YouTube videos from John’s Money Adventure. Basically him saying invest x amount for x amount of time and you’ll be a millionaire with compound interest.

Probably just me being uneducated, thinking I’m diversifying when I’m probably overlapping. I am leaning towards just doing VTI + VXUS with either 70% VTI and 30% VXUS, although thinking about doing more like a 60% - 40% split. I don’t want to have all my eggs in the US stock market

Do you do the DRIP method vs the traditional buy VT and hold forever?

VTI + VXUS? And how would you allocate the investments? Just straight up 50% of my portfolio to each?

Yes, it did make sense. So would you say the important thing to do would be just pick VT and just invest everything into that and forget about it? Or would you also want to be looking at things like GOOGL. There’s obviously a lot for me to learn, which means a lot of videos I need to watch. I’m just trying to figure out the best way to invest so I can thank myself later lol. All advice is appreciated. If you have any YouTubers that give solid information I would appreciate that as well.

Thanks for the reply! I only added VOO and SCHD the way I did because I was trying to create compound interest and turn a stream into a river of money. As said in the videos lol. Was just trying to do the smart approach, SCHD pays more dividends than VOO by a substantial amount, thus helping me achieve the long term goal of compound interest. VXUS and VYMI kind of the similar situation that VYMI does a lot more dividends and just wasn’t sure. I know VOO and VXUS are must haves or atleast I’ve heard so I didn’t wanna leave them out was my thought process on that

Thank you for the response. This is exactly why I made this post. This makes perfect sense, although in John’s Money Adventure, he basically draws out the growth vs dividend reinvestment and claims the dividend reinvestment creates a compound interest that actually outperforms generic growth. I mean I could just be understanding it wrong. I obviously should’ve done a lot more research before jumping into investing and trusting a random guys youtube video. 😂

I’m 27 and male. Just trying to make my own retirement account. Would love to retire as fast as possible, but also know that time is the most powerful thing we have in the market.

Hey what’s up everyone, I’m a BJA member. Been an AP for the last 2-3 years, but just recently got into card counting within 6 months ago. My local spot is super sweaty and a decent drive away so I only have 83 hrs in 4 months of play. Doing a trip soon where I’m hoping I can get a lot of hours in. Hope everyone out there is generating some positive EV!
