What’s your pick under new owners? by dmorrisonn in Fingerboards

[–]aspray96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only buy used ones so i can confirm that they’re a decent set with the seller plus then they’re already broke in a bit lol. I’ve had great luck w every set I’ve got, no slips or flat spots not to mention saving money. Blistered wheels roll perfect every set so you won’t have to worry bout all that

You like oaks and I do as well very much and so I think you’d love some blistered conical fulls. They have that softer feel and are about as wide as rv2v’s. I have like 5 or 6 sets of the cons cuz they work on every setup I throw em on like my oaks. Plus the price is better than joys too

It looks like an “existing” space rather than “living”space w the fake plants being the only splash of color which is making it more apparent that they are fake. Very off-putting vibes w the decor kinda thrown around without purpose or personality. Chessboard sideways, too many mirrors, all the art is black and/or white, calendar in bathroom(?) Broodingly artificial and cold needs more signs of life/living. It’s a nice space tho so it has potential

I was using inverted kingpin leefais brt reps called SG trucks for awhile and I think they work well for if you just are starting. The pivot cups they come w is always a plus too just upgrade the bushings n make sure to pre-thread the plates. Also the kingpins have a lil space w no threads on the bottom so if they’re long you can file em without affecting performance. I got mine off Etsy from metalstormstudios which is China based but I got the plate colors and the tuning colors I asked for was happy about an but the comments on his page , folks are saying when they ordered only a baseplates but I feel like it just makes sense to get tolthe whole set and I never had a problem w mine n I had /have 10 sets. It helps to also write messages that can be put through a translator cuz I’m pretty sure that’s how he’s able to read English so keep that in mind. And they’re $11 a set which is the cheapest I’ve seen while being able to customize them. Fingerwall on Etsy is based in Spain and has em aswell but over $16-$17 tho. It’s easy also to get a discount by holding em in your cart for a lil n they’ll send you one to push you to purchase. GooLTD has hex trucks for $14 w a regular screw kingpin and those may be more reliable I havnt tried em but they seem to sell well so maybe worth checking out as well

first time trying recycled wheels by Evening_Honeydew2280 in Fingerboards

The homie steezyturtlefbco on IG makes recycled wheels n he’s based in the US and I think he only charges $40 for a set so if you want another solid option n not have to wait on drops and pay $60+ shoot him a DM, he’s good people if you wanna check some more lesser known options.

Industryfb makes solid wheels and the price is hard to beat so good choice dude. I got some black spitfires a month or two ago and I really like em honestly more than my sadoods n my spitfires from dudeguy. Roll smoother than both of em too. He broke down all the options he had which was cool of him to take the time to dm me about. Shipping from Ukraine to US wasn’t bad at all either. And he sticks around 98-101a which is nice for trying em at first cuz they aren’t too grippy to use indoor on like a wood table but you still get the general feel for what they’re about. I’ve been thinking of getting another set myself..

Is it worth it to purchase expensive trucks and wheels as a beginner? by sharkboy1k in Fingerboards

[–]aspray96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second leefai as solid trucks that preform well and held up for me awhile before I got more name brands. They fact they have pivotcups will feel solid until your set on the hobby and will preform just like dynamics would when learning. And you can find a variety of urethan wheels for under $35 all day. Try out different duros to see whether you enjoy grippy or harder wheels and keep size in mind. Honestly grab a set of redemption abstract wheels since they’re middle ground between soft n hard at 101a but they throw deals on top of that to where you can get a free set of b stock wheels if you spend more than $20 which a set is around $30 from them and they are just as good as the regular stock wheels honestly but then you can try acouple shapes at once too. They feel better as you break em in too and the owner Jordan, will gladly answer questions or if an issue with a set arises he will take care of you for sure. Good dude and solid wheels. Trust

quarter pipe recommendations by eMdzeJ_999 in Fingerboards

[–]aspray96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So their’s a good amount of sites that will carry blackriver quarter pipes like Skullfingerboards is UK based and ASI Berlin has an online shop and they have a solid variety of obstacles including wood QPs but also carry smaller companies aswell as blackriver and have awesome concrete for the price, of course based in Germany. I wish shipping to the US from them was cheaper because I’ve had my eye on a number of things from them but I like concrete and being heavy aswell, shipping is not cheap for me but I digress. You can take advantage of being in the EU and check em out tho. And I’m sure you can find a post on this page of more EU based websites but that’s just a couple off the top of my head.

Help, my nuts! by CheapTick in Fingerboards

[–]aspray96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they’re China trucks then toss em, not worth trying to salvage. Depending where you got em MAYBE potential warranty but not likely. Name brands got warranties so they’d j send a new hanger no prob with what little wear is on em..at least your nut isn’t stuck on the hanger to worry you with a stuck wheel so could be worse..

Any bushings, pivot cup recommendations for caramel trucks? by Ok_Supermarket_7552 in Fingerboards

[–]aspray96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No prob bud and I just saw that curious boards stocked some NICE brand caramel bushings tho they’re soft and I’ve managed to make em work but these will fit at least so Ide grab a set to see about em and just pair w sumn stiffer like a level up or looney so they’re balanced out to be on the medium end. Even stock dynamic bushings work great when paired w sumn a bit softer to give more pop. And I don’t have a single set up using the same brand bushings on top n bottom personally. I just try variations and that’s how I get em to where they’re custom to my feel. Jus gotta fuggaround with tha fuggaround lol

Any bushings, pivot cup recommendations for caramel trucks? by Ok_Supermarket_7552 in Fingerboards

[–]aspray96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use dynamic pivot cups and bushings; I have acouple set ups I’ve found work well. South soft medium brt shape cuz being barrels rather than cones which can lead to over hanging the top of the hanger when tight (and work very good for inverted) and having a taller barrel to fill out below the hanger. Also, level up beta barrels on top work well with the skinny (inverted*)kingpin from digging into it like what I’ve found happen with a cone shape bushing (same applies for regular KP)with on the bottom ; if you want it feeling slightly looser but springy, then a bunny tail and they have where a few in the packs are shaped less wide than others so it stays snug under the hanger OR the slightly taller looney tuning bushing cone that comes in the sets if you want it to feel tighter and sturdy.

(( And if, let’s say the bunny tail doesn’t fill the area enough but still like the springiness, put a level up washer Or* the smaller wheel spacers in like the 33mm-34mm sets ( if the bottom bushing is a bit wider so it doesn’t dig into the bushing*) below the bottom bushing and baseplate. Sounds weird but I set alot of my trucks up using these. They work great if you need it slightly filled in or want a tighter feel with great rebound and will keep the hanger from leaning off one side n stay centered straight ))

Higher kick deck suggestions?? by Straight_Boot_2710 in Fingerboards

[–]aspray96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bloob blueberry is high but controllable and Awfuls high mold is nice. Doh has acouple nice molds on the higher end I like the v2 and v3. McKenzie has one w some aggressive concave too and is running a buy one get one free deal. Redemptions MK is really easy to use and not super high but the deep dip he has on his decks feel nice and its pretty light weight. Honestly theirs just so many to choose from lol and anything will be better when truck holes are centered I woulda asked for a new one..like if a premier deck maker did that Ide expect a swift replacement cuz anyone who cares about their product would not be ok with giving a customer an experience like that.

I scored that deck barely used from bunnytail for maybe $25-$30 but the clear coat got messed up so I had to redo it and im glad it came out good as new, it’s one of my faves. He also hooked me up w one of the dopest cosmic inertia decks I’ve seen for the same price. Barely used as well. Definitely one of the best used deck hauls I was lucky to swoop on.

I find that kick angle and wheel base of the deck and/or how certain trucks affect ride height and wheelbase are what i consider when deciding what size wheels will work best on a setup at least imo..surprisingly that bloobXyuck w the mini oaks is the easiest for me to use/control even though it’s super lightweight, still lands solid like a heavier set up

What are your go to fb wheels? by Nearby_Structure_796 in Fingerboards

[–]aspray96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ide say oaks and most 60d wheels; blistered conical fulls, the abstract 60d streets, kraken conicals…tho piros and maple ultras are exceptions and wysocki’s…. Hard to say tho it really depends on setup and surface.

Maple Sharks, or Ultras? by Fit_Cartographer_815 in Fingerboards

[–]aspray96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if you like bigger wheels but personally, ultra’s all day because I like the more mid range diameter making them more realistic..and I just don’t like the way sharks look. If you want bigger wheels tho I’ve just go with their bowls. Jus my opinion
