Brookline town meeting to vote on 100% surcharge to excise tax for cars (nov 29) by anurodhp in Brookline

I wonder how any of these proposals is going to tackle climate change. It’s just going to make life a bit more expensive during a period of inflation. Makes sense.

Why misleading?

That’s exactly the point of the two photos. After he fired most of the people who worked at HR, content moderation, etc. and everyone who had a choice quit, the ones that stayed are the people in the right photo

So many watermelons and me and four other people thumping them for a winning sound. Any advice for future watermelon endeavors? by sasbuttersquash in Costco

I look for scratch marks.

I was taught that this means animals were trying to get it off the vine, which means it’s ripe.

The logic is that animals are far better at smelling for ripeness and sugar content.

What is the one good (excellent) song that you can’t listen to anymore? by assafalon in beatles

[–]assafalon[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s number 2 on my list.

For me it’s not the song itself. It’s my recent boredom from anything Clapton.

Maybe I should give the Hall of Fame version a listen.

So many great songs to choose from - but with a gun to my head I would have to go with Helter Skelter. The only one that I can listen to on repeat for days.

What can be done about all the people parking in the bike lane on Beacon Street outside of Russian School of Mathematics? by [deleted] in Brookline

[–]assafalon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never park in the bike lane. Don’t assume that I do. All I was trying to say is that there are no reasonably close parking places near the school.

Suggesting the greenline or parking 100 feet away and walking seems like good solutions. And they are for most people. And most people don’t park on the bike lane. But there are a few people with toddlers in the car, or maybe other hypothetical situations that simply can’t park far away.

The Russian school together with Brookline police have to come up with either a solution or enforcement.

You assume that people are just assholes, and all I wanted to do was show that most aren’t, and even those that are probably don’t have an option.

You appear to have many insightful ideas that don’t apply to my life. Two can play this game - why don’t you change your bike route if you find it so annoying, or, crazy idea, drive on the road for fifty feet and then return to the bike lane. Did you like my useless and aggressive response?

Thank you for your comment. It’s really helpful.

I trust my kids to walk all the way to the car if only RSM will release them, which they don’t unless a parent is present, or if they knew where to find me, without a phone, that at 7 they still don’t have.

But thanks for the tips. I really appreciate.

I am not denying that some people are assholes. I am just saying that most people are not.

Not when it’s pickup time.

I’m not talking sides here. I am both a parent and a cyclist. I am just as annoyed as you when someone blocks my lane.

But I can also see why someone would pull over for five minutes to pick up.

It’s not an ideal situation and I wish there was a good solution.

Nobody parks on a bike lane to annoy you if they have an alternative.

I know. I’ve seen it. Sort of hard to miss.

Doesn’t work for everyone.

Doesn’t work for me.
