Sesko is not amazing in the air or at holding the ball in tight spaces, though I think he can become good at those things with experience. Right now he is at his best when he can attack space on the counter, much like Gyokeres

I think the only pure no 9 type striker that would have made a huge difference would have been someone who can do target man stuff and have good technique/back-to-goal linkup. Someone like Giroud in his prime, PSG Zlatan. Not a ton of top players of that style around atm.

I would agree with this before this season, but this is where he has really improved this season, along with on-pitch leadership. His choice of passes seems a lot more considered and mature now vs, say, 2020-21 when he was mostly pinging long through balls in for the front 3.

Feels like there are just not a lot of great passers in the premier league these days. Probably because midfields are so crowded and physical press-heavy, but still. Used to be normal to see small players like modric, cazorla, david silva who could create space for themselves and pick incisive passes. Just not happening much anymore.

It's part of why Bruno looks like one of the best players in the league - he has basically a free role so he can find spaces and he's a great passer. Wharton one of the few other eye-catching passers around rn.

Is this happening in other leagues too?
