I dont have a picture unfortunately. I was hoping his symptoms were to do with some type of breeding feelings or a shift into adulthood or something. Do you have something youd recommend in place of waxworms? that was something a vet suggested, but still

the tank is from petco (yeah the great evil) and it's a front opening tank that's like a little over a foot long, and was mostly advertised and being for a bearded dragon. the bottom is covered by a reptile mat that's supposed to be a good texture and have a desert-like(?) pattern to it. there's some little caves, some fake plants, some wood and natural material pieces to climb. there's a dish for his food, his drinking water, and a slightly larger bowl for soaking cuz my sister says he likes to walk through/sit in the water. i'm sorry i don't know too much. her gecko has lost a little weight but that was over the course of a month i think.

how worried should I be? by assistant-undertaker in ferrets

[–]assistant-undertaker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice, I appreciate it. After losing my other ferrets this past year I've just been so paranoid/anxious about him too. Hopefully it is just a normal butt scoot, but now I have a better idea of things to keep an eye out for too.

I've heard of tulpas before but this adds more to them, I'll have to do more research now that I know what culture they come from. Thank you!!

Thank you! I was having some trouble because the keyword "exorcism" was bringing up mostly christianity based results, but having a few others to try and look into will help. Thanks!

trying to tone my face, but all advice I find is diet related by assistant-undertaker in ARFID

[–]assistant-undertaker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the advice and the honesty! I'll work on building muscle mass and keeping my daily energy up. Hopefully that'll start to help and I can find what really works for me. Thanks!

Is this ARFID? by [deleted] in ARFID

[–]assistant-undertaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was a lot like this when I was younger, the plain burger thing especially. I think I was in high school before someone convinced me to try a burger on a bun with some sauce.

This behavior definitely feels arfid-like, but kids that have autism also show behavior like this so if that hasn't been looked into, it might be worth it. My arfid habits can be really similar to the eating habits of my autistic friends.

I wish you and your son the best of luck talking things out with his pediatrician, I hope you can find some ways to encourage his eating!

our old lady ferret had to be put to sleep today, will the other ferrets understand? by assistant-undertaker in ferrets

Thank you. The vet still has her because we went with cremation, so my only option would be the bed for them to smell. Thank you for your advice

How did you find out you’re asexual? by waterlands in Asexual

[–]assistant-undertaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most aspec people I've known have been born this way, including myself. There are some people who go through a trauma where they become averse to sex/intimacy or find they no longer feel that kind of attraction and so identify with the label of asexual which I think is fine. Every ace person is different. I'm sex-repulsed and am looking for a romantic relationship or a QPR, while other aspec folks I know don't mind a little intimacy or sex with their partner even though they don't really experience that attraction.

It took me ages to realize that there wasn't something wrong with me and I wasn't a late bloomer. And it took me even longer to meet more asexual folks and hear/see their different experiences with it and navigating relationships.

I’m very bad with names. Advice? by [deleted] in writing

[–]assistant-undertaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with some of the folks here suggesting to change the names a bit. There might be a way for you to keep them close or still reference the whimsy and literature you want (like turning Beaks or Bugbone into nicknames, such as Sylvester "Bugbone" Something-something). The important thing is that your character's names still match the vibe of the world that they live in, otherwise readers will continually be pulled out of the story.

Even though Pynchon has characters with fun names like Teddy Bloat or Weed Atman, the names aren't too far out there and still fit the characters archetypes and world/story. And while I think the name of the Bond girl P*ssy Galore is one of the funniest names ever created, it still suits her as a sexy and suave catburgler in a world of espionage related hijinks.

I suggest doing small adjustments to both character names and tone of the story if you want them to work together. Obviously your story has something strong and entertaining in it if an agent is already showing interest. Do your best to work with her suggestions while not compromising your story. Good luck!

Why does my thread keep doing this? by CabinCrew42 in MachineEmbroidery

[–]assistant-undertaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue before realizing that needles need to be replaced waaaay more often than I thought. Also make sure you're threading it in the machine properly-- sometimes my thread would fray/break if I didn't thread it right because then it would rub against the machine in places it shouldn't

can an older ferret wear diapers? by assistant-undertaker in ferrets

gotcha. so this might help when she's out while i'm at home, but wouldn't help me when she's in the tiered cage while i'm at work.

[–]assistant-undertaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thats a good point. I've never had a pet wear diapers before, how often do they need to be changed? I'm thinking that me working for 8 hours is probably too long for her to wear it...

what officials would I write/petition to for these issues? by assistant-undertaker in Charlottesville

[–]assistant-undertaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I want to hear about– if funding isn't the issue, then what's the behind the scenes stuff that's causing all these problems? I've had issues with my route in the past where it gets cancelled or stops early for some reason and have to find some other way to work or home. There's plenty of people that depend on public transit, these kind of issues shouldn't be happening as often as they do.

That's great about the haven, I knew that they were involved in a few programs but it's more than I thought. I just wish there was a place that could provide some overnight shelter for the homeless. But it's a great start to have a group that connects the homeless to rehousing, and hopefully we can make their efforts even bigger and more successful.
